I spent a bit of time this week revamping my website and updating everything. It's not meant to get a lot of traffic or anything, (I just linked the images to DPC) it's just something I share between my family and friends.
I'd like to hear what you think of it, I did it in Flash

Looks great!

Did you use any special application to create it, or only Macromedia Flash MX?

looks like just flash - and tweening the animation.

joey, love the slight update to your site. may i suggest presetting the size of the window and possibly the location that pops up for your pictures?

joey, i can't wait to see what you are doing in 10 or 15 yrs. like the new site still doesn't completely show on screen my res is set at 1024x768 maybe i misread the intro though.

Very nice...really like the front page. I cannot however, read the text in the lower left.

Agreeing with totaldis...somewhat...I think the window that opens up with the picture should include some text letting the user know its ok to close the windows without loosing the webpage. However, controlling the size of the window would involve JavaScript (...I donĂ¢€™t know of another way...) and a JavaScript pop-up is often blocked by pop-up blockers...

I like the design of your page, it fits the general mood of your pictures very well. The distorted lines brake up what remains of symmetric ordered thumbnails. The two hands which form the background for one page are great.

Since the site is optimized for 1024, you might use two empty frames to the left and right side which have a relative size (*,1024,*). The result is that the main frame will always be centered for larger resolutions.

By the way, how much do you pay for your .net domain?

Checked it out earlier (before you posted this) but just saw this thread and thought that instead of just PMing you and saying it, I'd say it right here:
DUDE! FREAKING AWESOME SITE!

there ya go. : )

DUDE! FREAKING AWESOME SITE! (seriously though... not mocking other commenters, they just said it better than i could)

i think it looks exactly how your website should look. only thing is how the photos pop up just on the white backgrounds linked to the DPC images doesn't fit. have them come up on black or better yet something more interesting.

if your monitors resolution is 1024x768 just hit f11 it should fill the screen (assuming your using IE).

Flash 5, updates are for the weak! (Or maybe my trial just ran out...)

Wow, that's from the old version. Didn't even notice I forgot to get rid of it. Thanks!

20 bucks Canadian for the year, which ties in with why I have the images linked directly to DPC with a plain background. (I only bought a few MB of webspace) Keep in mind it's just to show my friends and family, I ain't gunna pay like 8 bucks a month. But I agree, I hate those white pages too!

I think I can solve this with an Iframe, but that's for the next update! ;-)

thanks everyone! I hope I answered all you guys

Very nice design, but I agree that the windows that pop up could use some work. The rest of the site looks very well-designed, but referencing straight to the jpeg in the popup doesn't look quite as professional.

You also need some copyright info on those pop-up images.

Fantastic work there Joey! Looks amazing. I wish I had the talent to put something like that together!
