Shadow: there is only ONE bear_music so that's the answer, or darkness will reign.
BeeGee: I'm unaware that I snore.
KevRobertson: Emphatically, yes! The key to "winning" an argument with your wife is to let HER win. It's a very zen thing. If you don't understand this you haven't been married very long.
Johnson: I ain't touching that one, sorry. (pun intended)

For some reason, I have a LOT of trouble cracking eggs without leaving pieces of shell or breaking the yolk. I don't know much at all about higher (or even lower, truth be known) mathematics. I don't know the map of the heavens, the names of any but the most obvious stars and constellations. I don't know any good hangover remedies, mostly because I don't seem to get hangovers.
That last is interesting; it's been theorized that I am relatively immune to hangovers for the same reason that i can't get dizzy or seasick; my inner ears are dead.
Plenty more where that came from :-)

...now, make a fist with both hands, stick your thumbs straight up, put your hands up against your ears with the thumbs sticking out away from your head, now wiggle your thumbs and go "hhmmmmmm..." (in a throaty, gurgly voice)

hangovers are simply a lack of either liquid (water) or salt in our bodies (or both). The problem with partying hard is that beer and harder stuff IS liquid and thus adds water to our system. However, that effect is ruined by the fact that alcohol withdraws more water from our system than any form of alcoholic beverage is able to add.
So, what can one do? Pretty simple, really: drink a lot of water on the side. With beer and lesser alcoholic beverages it takes less to compensate for the alcohols effects than with wine and liquor.
What also helps, before going to sleep, is a glass of milk, if your stomach can handle it. If not, again, simply add water.
In the morning: eat something salty, first thing, or second, after another glass of water. The headaches we have in the mornings result from the withdrawal of all the liquid, caused by the alcohol. And because one often sleeps longer after a night out, that effect of dehydration is hightened. That's also why your stomach will feel terrible in the morning. And if you add coffee to your system, which is another agent that withdraws liquid, you're bound to feel even worse.
just drink MORE water and have something salty, anything salty, e.g. bread with peanut butter, sausage, cheese, eggs and bacon, fish etc.
you'll feel better in NO TIME AT ALL.
remember the old saying that goes "take everything with a grain of salt" - well, that was once meant very literally...
Now let's see if bear_music sees his binge night or morning after behavior reflected in my post. Some people manage to "automatically" do the right thing.
Say NO to your next hangover ;-)

PS: I'm not a doctor, just an experienced smarta$$ :-P |

I haven't mastered it, buy if you crack your egg on a flat surface (i.e. countertop) instead of on an edge (i.e. pan or bowl edge) you will minimize your chances of getting eggshells in your egg. As for breaking the yolk... I dunno, break it very carefully?
here's a question for you bear, can we all give you a big bear hug for being such a cool person that nobody can stump :D and always has excellent things to say about photos and photography?
Anyone want to join me?
Cheers! |

Bruno,
It's a fact that I suffer far less from hangovers (or used to, I drink relatively little now) than my friends. Such effects as I DO feel are related to dehydration, definitely, and your advice fits right in with how I deal with it, on the few times it's a (potential) problem. But there's a whole other class of hangover symptoms, nausea, instability, what-not, that is related to disruptions in the body's balance center, a thing of which I am not in possession (how's that for sentence structure?).
Pidge,
Hugs are always welcome.
Robt.
