I finally finished editing pictures from my friends wedding, and I found this unexpected Jem. She was pulling her train around to hold off the floor for the first dance. There were people in the background whom I removed, and I desaturated the pic...
I'd be interested in what you guys think. I have a possible job opportunity as a photographers assistant for weddings, bar/bat-mitzvahs, etc...and granted I wouldn't get to TAKE the pictures, Eventually maybe I will.
Any feedback would be appreciated.

you're welcome!
btw, i just asked another wedding photographer:
BIG QUESTION: what technique do you use for bw conversions?
ANSWER: Image - Mode - Lab Color. Then in channels click on Lightness. Do your edits and convert to grayscale. I find this way gives me the greatest range of lights and darks." |

Here is the re-edit with Skiprow's advice.
Thanks, once again. It looks a lot better.

The pov is outstanding. I like the first edit better. It looks like it has a better tonal range. The second looks a bit washed out. It's the print that matters the most. Have you printed both to compare them?
Edit to add: The reason I like the original is because the satin displays it's sheen much better and the needlework is more obvious. In the second one the satin looks like it's has a matte finish.

The second one was a quick edit - I'd have to play around with it but I see what you mean. I have not made any prints yet, but I'll try some tonight. Thanks.
