IT´S JUST TOO MUCH!!!
Can´t we have a simple challenge for a change!

Single light source was pretty straightforward (pun intended).

well I too have felt this way. My light source photo did not get submitted, as I was still working on it up to the last minute and time ran out as I was submitting it. Then, this past week, I didn't even get to submit a photo.. illusion completly stumped me... at least as far as submitting somthing decent... nothing I came up with presented much of an illusion for the viewer... but, when I read what you see below, I felt better... no one ever said it was going to be easy.. if it were easy, I don't think it would be much of a challenge

Yes, but it still needs some arrangements. I meen a challenge were you can take your camera, concentrate on the motiv and shoot. Don´t have to think of fixing things, buying things and making your house up and down. Just try to find a motiv, get the right angle and take your photo.

it's a shame, but IMO a few of the better entries this week are simply presentations of things that i already saw by doing a YAHOO search of "optical illusions" ---- i went looking for inspiration, NOT are picture to reproduce

Why is that a shame? It is still a challenge to produce those illusions photgraphically and realistically as opposed to an illustration.

Oh, I mostly agree -- I'm ready for a "Sunset" or "Kid/Pet" challenge any time now...

If it was easy - it wouldnt be a challenge .. that's what this site is all about .. there are other sites out there that you can submit pretty much anything to .. that's why i like this site so much .. because it does make you think OUTSIDE of your box .. and find even more about you and your own photography ....

Well with that out ... hehehe figures - i suggest the superstitions and or urban legends .. and i havent a clue on what to do!!! LOL

Have fun everyone!

like i said - IMO

it's like if i went to an art show, and there among the original works were 4 or 5 renditions of the "Mona Lisa" - maybe 1 or 2 of those are good, but where's the creativity

yeah - i know - the challenge didn't say we had to be creative :)

There is more than one form of creativity. Perhaps the creativity was in creating the illusions so that they could be photographed. There are many photographs that re-create famous paintings and I still consider those creative and interesting because they are creating it with a different art form which introduces it's own challenges.

But to each their own :- )

Just post a pic that has nothing to do with the challenge, pretty normal behaviour apparently, as about 40% of this weeks participants have done just that.

It makes you wonder whether each photo should be given TWO marks - one for the quality of the pic, and the other for relevance.

Good one Pixar!

I totally agree with you. Some pics are great but do not respect the theme and each individual will dock points accordingly. Some might deduct 1 point others might give the pic a total of 1. Having a double point system would give the challenge more objectivity and accuracy. Ex: 10 for pic quality and 10 for respect of the theme.

I think that both the theme and pic deserve equal weight. Some themes are more challenging then others hence the lower entries. And I'm all up for that. That's what I love about this wonderful site. It makes me think and imagine and sometimes go outside the box!

Two points if I may:

First of all, it is not mandatory to participate in every challenge.
Secondly, no one is stopping you from taking pictures that have nothing to do with DPChallenge. In fact, I HOPE that everyone experiments outside the realm of this site.
