If you can get away with it, use a laser pointer to get your focus, then turn off the pointer, switch to manual focus, and shoot!
Good Luck!

Just curious, I've never tried that myself. How effective is that? Isn't the dot rather small for the camera to focus on? Do you need Spot Metering for that?

I've done some tests around the house, and I don't recall my metering, but a buddy with a CoolPix and me with my 602 both got a sharp quick focus when pointing at the red dot. I can do some more test with different metering and get back to you a better answer.

Thanks! Also, I've considered using a small flashlight with an IR filter. I know the S602 can see IR light but don't know how effective it is for focusing in low light. Has anyone ever tried that before?

A 1GB Microdrive can hold about 440 6mp shots, or 840 at 3mp. |
are you sure it can hold 440 "6 MP shots". that is over 1 GB when you do the math. i think when i set my camera to the highest quality settings to get the best image possible it is under 100 shots available with my 1 GB microdrive...
I could be wrong though. |

We're both right : )
You're talking 18MB tiff files, I'm talking highest quality jpegs which are generally between 2 and 2.5MB.

They are talking about jpgs not tiffs or RAW files.
As for the wedding shots. I recommend using an external tilt flash and aim in at an angle toward the ceiling to bounce the flash. You need a little bit of distance to do this effectively. This provides a softer, more natural look and prevents red eye.
