Attempting to enter my first challenge. First I cropped it some. Now I am trying to resize my photo. I have resized it from 2832 pixel width x 2138 pixel height, 72 dpi, at 17.3M down to 225 pixel width X 219 pixel height, 72 dpi, 145K and now when I zoom in it just looks all pixelly. Is this normal? Should I have not cropped it first? Am I doing this all wrong? Please help, I would be so embarassed if this first attempt looks that bad. |

why are you downsizing so small? You can go 640 pixels
Are you using Photoshop?

Yes, using Photoshop 6. So small because anything higher makes file over 150K and the rules say not over 150K. Obviously I still don't know what I am doing.
Guess I better check out this tutorial and see what happens, I will get back to you. Thanks.

Do what Cher has told you. Go back to your original.........edit within the rules.............resize to longest being 640................file.....save for web....
Read the tutorial it will only take about 5 minutes to read then you will see just how easy it is....then print it for your records.

Ok I have gone thru the tutorial, now do I upload my image to my portfolio or straight into the challenge submit page? If I put it in my portfolio shouldn't I hide it until voting is over? |

Click below the challenge where it says view details and submit. Upload from there.

I held my breath and hit submit, prayed I didn't have the wrong image uploaded (didn't know if there was a way to turn back if I had accidentally uploaded an unmemtionable image)
Thanks alot everyone. You guys are great and so quick to help out. I knew I could count on you all. I don't think it's a winner, but I had to give it a try. It's probably terrible editing, but oh well, live and learn. It was fun and that's what counts for me.

Remember you can hide the update button (go to preferences) so you don't totally go mad :P

Pardon me for being blonde, what's this update about? I will guess that somehow somewhere you can see where your submitted cahllenge photo stands in the ratings?
and by the way, I wonder how many people vote on their own photo? Is that considered an unclassy thing to do? It somehow doesn't feel right, but then again maybe...., LOL |
