Hello
First y'all can just call me chris everyone in this world knows me so no worries there. Second I'm new to the digital photo world, and have my girlfriend to thank and now i am hooked and want to start showing what we both can do, anyone have any good beginners advice, i mean we do the camping trip photos, and family stuff...but it's just simple photos....of life....for us, we have PSP (paint shop pro) and use it a lot in our family company, so photo manipulation is something i/ we do understand.
Any and all feed back or emails will be gratefully welcomed.

You had to warn him. We get fresh meat and you go and spoil it all!
joking of course...
Welcome aboard...I second all that Rex said. And it is not so much stay away from Ken, just don't leave yourself open or he will take advantage in the most humorous way possible. |

Welcome, welcome, welcome! Best advice is to soak up all the wisdom and knowledge that is spewed all over this place. Whether it be in forum posts, comments, tutorials, challenges... just dive in. Look at photos in the galleries and challenges and try to figure out why they appeal to you than make that work for your images. It's great fun and there are alot of fantastic folks here.

DPChallenge is an eclectic group of photographers. You'll notice people from all ages and all over the world here. Well, not really all over the world. Just Canada, USA, and Iceland for some reason. Anyways, welcome to dpc. :)
edit: and UK and France and from some regions in Asia, okay maybe there's dpcers all over the world

Welcome to DPC Chris. You won't find a more agreeable, civil, mature, serious group of folks anywhere else.
...unless you look anywhere else, that is. heeheehee
Have fun.

You don't have photoshop. So I don't know. Downsize the width and height.

Welcome Chris! I hope you have as much fun here as I have had since I joined. You can learn a TON of stuff here, give & get critiques, and show off some of your work. You'll find that there are some incredibly talented individuals on here and some incredibly generous ones as well. Good luck & I look forward to seeing more of your shots!
BTW: There is a 12 step program for Update Button Anonymous...

it's tough living in a photoshop world with paint shop pro.
you said you had some experience with psp8 so you should be able to pick things up pretty quickly. i use psp9 and cs2 so i can go between both of them pretty smoothly. if you need any help regarding where something is in psp compared to cs2 i'll be happy to help ya.

I have an old version of PSP (5.0) - the compression for JPGs is adjusted when you "Save As" (or Save the first time) - the Save dialog comes up and there is an option button that brings up the compression adjustment. I don't think it tells you what the resulting file size is, so you may have to use trial and error.
Hope this helps. |
