Friday marked the opening night of the Catawba Valley 2A/3A conference football action for the upcoming season. In this photo, Newton-Conover's Brian Sullivan drags South Iredell linebacker Josh Miller down field...

Nice! You've captured emotion and movement really sharply. Great sports photography. I think it would be even better if you rotated it a little in PS to make it look less like a downhill battle. :)

I like this photo, as well. Good looking shot. Now I have a few questions. How did ya get so close (lens)? Were you the field or in the stands? And last, do they let you on the field if you ask nicely? Thanks.

This was shot with a Canon 70-200 f/2.8 lens from the sidelines of the game. As far as getting on the sidelines, it's different in different places. I must present my certified credentials to get on the field this season. They have been having problems with too many people showing up on the sidelines, so only press issued credentials will get you there now. It never hurts to ask though.

That's an excellent shot. I shot the Watauga/W. Caldwell game last night but didn't get a shot like that but then again I am not your calibur either.

You need to hook up with Richard Morris at prepalert.com and see if he will use any of your photos... are you shooting for a newspaper?

Yes, I do shoot for a newspaper but I'm not the main photographer. Marie Freeman is the main one and I back her up. I shoot for the Watauga Democrat and Mtn. Times. I need to upgrade my gear badly. I am starting to shoot more action and I see my shortcomings. I will try to get up with Richard and see if he needs a pict. Thanks and keep on showing your great imagry. You can view my shots at the papers website gallery.

Post a few here if you get a chance. I'm going to post something from every football game I shoot this season in this thread...
