OH. You bought a camera..now all you need is a camera bag, a polarizing filter, a UV filter (optional lens protection), a tripod, some macro filters, and a flash! There are several G2 owners around if you have specific questions. :o) |

Get a Lensmate adaptor so you can put filters on it, that's a first step :) www.lensmateonline.com

If your planning on converting RAW images, I recommend using something other than the Canon software. I personally prefer BreezeBrowser. The same people also make a free downloader that I use as well. Oh, and I agree that the lensmate is a must have.

Interface in PS is really slow. Breezebrowser is a must IMHO if you are using RAW. you can get a trial version and see how you like it versus photoshop.

I use breezebrowser and the freebie 'downloader' program. I shoot RAW, use downloader to auto get the files via a card reader, which launches breeze browser for an initial edit. Then I edit the images in photoshop7, using breezebrowser to convert to 16 bit and launch photoshop automatically.

You need some sort of image preview program so that you can go through the shots quickly. Breezebrowser (acdsee is another common one) will let you look at thumbnails of all the photos and rotate if needed. Then you can delete those you don't want. You can open a larger version (or original) and see the exif data. You don't want to be dragging every photo into PS just to decide if you even wanna keep it. Also check out the canon forum at dpreview.com. It's a good place to find info on the G2. |
