Hello all, I'm looking to do more portrait work and therefore need to update some of my lighting equipment. Do you guys think i should spring for a softbox or a Beauty Dish?

Speaking from only research experience with re: to lighting I think the light from a softbox is more pleasing vs. the beauty dish (which, to my understanding, is harsher).
If I am mistaken I stand corrected but I'd think for regular portrait type lighting your best bet is the softbox. |

Geo, what are you using now? I took a look at the Film Exposure site and whatever you're doing is awesome now.
Great pix. |

Thanks guys! Softbox it is.
Marmalade1121, I've been using available light and bounce boards but that stuff looks a little tacky with paying clients. Ya' know?

wouldn't an octobox be sort of between a beauty dish and a softbox?
