What type of feedback do you like to receive? I know there has been a previous thread on this - comments.
But, I want to take it step further - is there anyone that you look forward to receiving comments from? |

Nope, everyone and anyone's comment has the same impact. Good comments, in my opinion are those who lets you know what a person see in the photo you have taken. It can be as short as "hey nice dog" (on a photo of a cat) or something like "what a big ass" (on a self potrait) |

I will admit that I particularly enjoy getting comments from photographers whose work I admire. I don't discount comments from folks who have so-so portfolios or challenge history. Not at all. I am especially pleased, however, when I get a constructive comment from someone whose photos I know I like. |

All comments are welcome and useful; whoever they're from and whatever they say. The 'this is great' type comments make me feel good and I thank everyone who adds them. I'd like to see more comments which focus on what I could have done better. I'm very thick skinned.

I agree with jpochard. I appreciate when I get a comment from someone whose work I like.
As far as comments from those whos portfolio doesn't appear to be that interesting - if the comment is good or not - I think it is a good opportunity for them to develop their skills through my pics. I think I learned alot by commenting on the pic of others.
I will admit it is sometimes difficult to take negative comments - no matter who they come from. But then there is the saying - "no pain, no gain". |

I am glad to hear you say that you look for those type of comments. I just recently started a system where I am trying to comment on alot of the photos that I score under 5. Before I hesitated to comment on these because I didn't want to offend anyone. |

I'm gonna start commenting on those I rate between 4,5 and 6 because anything lower then 4 and they gotta know its crap and anything higher the 6 has gotta know it good.
edit: crap can constitute a does not meet the challenge as well as a crappy photo.

I enjoy every comment I receive and always find them helpful. When I receive a comment I always check out that persons port, not to judge them but to see what they are into, it's a bit like meeting someone for the first time.
I know I don't comment enough but I try to make my comments meaningful and positive but also highlight what I like and what I dislike. Commenting does not come easy for me but I do intend to comment more often.

I too find each and every comment helpful (in some form or fashion). Even the "What were you thinking?" ones. In those cases, I obviously took something for granted in my shot that some members of the population don't like, are unfamiliar with, or could not determine from my image. Any way you slice it, it was my fault for not conveying my intended message.
I do, however, particularly appreciate the comments from those people whose work I admire. I like it even more when they give me constructive criticisms, because that's the only way I can continue to improve and eventually BEAT THEM OUT FOR A RIBBON! (ROFLMAO - just kidding on that last part! Well, kinda...) ;-)
