Get the canon 100mm 2.8 macro, it's the best... then you have a good reason to upgrade to Canon tooooo...;-P |

I gotta disagree with ya there, I think the Canon 60mm Macro is just as good, if not better.. :-)

The D70 has a 1.5X conversion, so it becomes a 90mm, not 120mm.

I'm still leaning toward the 105mm due to the fact that it is a focal length that I do not currently have, but my kit lens does cover 60mm, even if it isn't at a macro setting. I don't know what it is though, just something personal, but I have a hard time getting away from a Nikon lens for anything else. I've had too many bad experiences with non-manufacturer lenses to want to try another one. And the comment about searching for focus in AF mode is a little disturbing. That is the top reason that I gave up my Coolpix 8700 and went back to an SLR.

One more reason for the 105 is there is a rebate currently running on it. See B&H.

Yeah... but it's still what, 200 dollars more than the sigma.
I suppose if money is no object, but from what I've read the optics between the independents and the big two in the 100mm macro territory are fairly well indistinguishable. |
