I'll be controversial.
Both. Each show has their moments. Simpsons has been around much longer, and therefore has gotten old and tired, but in the beginning, it was every bit as good (if not better in many respects) as Family Guy. Family Guy is relatively new, still quite fresh, and therefore fun to watch.
However, I find myself watching old simpsons shows more than old Family Guy shows.. for some reason, Family Guy's humor is more of the "one watch" variety, where Simpsons has more of a replay value.

Familly Guy all the way. Tired of the Simpsons... they've come and gone now... too old. |

Family guy is a "intellectual" south park, with no regard for political correctness Weeeeeee!
And like all of the Animated.... not very "republican" oriented! |

SIMPSONS
P.S. I'd watch a new episode of Family Guy over a rerun of the Simpsons, tho. |

I have to agree with Arty. The Simpsons are an old standby. I always enjoy a good Simpson's episode, but I really do adore the Family Guy and was so excited when they announced they would bring it back.
And I have to give a nod to Futurama, its awesome! Someone mentioned King of the Hill too, and it took me a while to warm up to it, but I absolutely love the dry humour of that show! |

Both are genius. I've been a fan of the Simpsons forever but
for the last four years they have not been as good as those
classic episodes. Family Guy on the other hand is still relatively
new (only season 4) and I crack up EVERY episode I see.
FAMILY GUY IS THE WINNER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

I have to say if I could trade all the family guy episodes for all the simpsons episodes I'd do it. Simpsons is an icon which we grew up with and the humor is so well made, even after so many years I at least get a laugh out of episodes new and old. Oftentimes Simpsons fans can compare situations to "Like that one Simpsons where..."
Family Guy is in itself a much more hard hitting humor. I think the random snippits and flashbacks give the show a unique edge. Getting hit by surprise with something completely unexpected and funny is a great feeling and these days Family Guy gives me more laughs per episode.
Unfortuantely for the Simpsons, the show is somewhat based in reality which doesn't give them the creative flexibility family guy has. This (and the fact theve been around for forever and a half) might explain why some things might start to feel kinda "stale" |

I love them both!! Simpsons a bit duller now, but I remember first seeing it on the Tracey Ullman show and laughing my butt off. Then came Family Guy and bout shit my pants!!

My favorite FG moment..Peter fulfilling his lifelong dream of being a jouster. The gorgeous maid shows up....all the guys in the metal suits. Bing, bing, bing....get to the nerd (love the voice too) no Bing so he says DING!
Still laughing.

I'm a long time Simpsons fan, but Family Guy is fantastic.
Futurama ain't half bad either :) I can't believe they cancelled it so soon.
