Hello,
I am doing a project on Blind Photographers and was hoping that someone may have some information from the web that I don't already have.
Thanks,
Nicky. |

I only know of one - Chit Rabbinton - but he is no longer around. I could probably get away with claiming that some of my photos were done by a blind photographer though. :)
I know we have some color blind photogs and some hearing impaired. Maybe it would be helpful to know what information you have and some specifics about the project. |

There was a thread here following a news story about a show by a blind photographer about 18 months or 2 years ago maybe ... I haven't seen much discussion here on the topic since. I'me one of the (red/green) color-blind participants if that helps ... there've been several threads on that in the past few months. |

Here's a blind photographer in Vilnius, Lithuania. He shoots for sound, then after the film is developed, his friends then tell him what he has shot. You can search for him more.

Thanks for all the information everyone.
I am doing a presentation on blind photographers- is the topic I have chossen.
The most important aspect I want to cover is HOW they take the photographs. I have now 3 professional photographers who take the photographs in a different way. One measures, the one mentioned above uses sound.
I want to show examples of their work and I want to Open the door so students are aware that blind photographers exist.
I want to try and get my hands on a book which was the first ever photography book which was brial made for blind people. So thanks for all the info anything else would be fantastic!!!!
Thanks,
Nicky. |

Dear Nicky,
I've found a wonderful photographer Evgen Bavcar who almost completely lost his eyesight when he was twelve //www.zonezero.com/EXPOSICIONES/fotografos/bavcar/bavcar13.html.
I've also encountered the following links related to the topic:

A blind photographer - fictional I am fairly sure - featured in an episode of NCIS, series 4. He said how he shoots, I can't remember the exact words now. May be complete baloney for all I know.
