Why do people view and not vote?

Just quick browsing - will come back and vote later. Lots of people do it. No biggee, IMO.

I can't answer for all, but sometimes I have time to view, but only quickly so I do not cast a vote as I feel it would not be fair to that image as it did not get the close look I gave others.

Some folks view all the entries before viewing on any the first run through.

what kpriest said, plus some people vote photos into groups, then come back and refine their votes accordingly, some folks vote, then go back through and comment, some go back and look if they have time to make sure they didn't miss anything, etc... or, your photo may just have struck a chord in someone and they just keep coming back to enjoy the image :-)

Look the challenge over before voting.
Multiple passes to fine-tune the votes they have given.
Look at any entry by Dr. Jones again. :D
Come back to see the images I liked again (not just the ones by Dr. Jones).
"Hey honey, come look at this!"

There are as many reasons as there can be. If the number of views is exceptionally high (more than twice the number of votes, I would say), you have an image that is making an impact of the viewers. What kind of impact that is would of course depend on the image.

I guess I mistakenly equated viewers equals voters. I overlooked the fact that one can only vote once but can view as many times as one likes. Thanks guys for clarifying.

I always view every entry at least once before I cast any votes.

I kinda look at them randomly before I start voting.

LOL so you could have a great image or a pathetic one!

Personally, I go back after I vote & move things around. Also when I don't enter and I dont have enough time to vote I'll just have a look around at a few...

Two reasons.

1. After voting the next image comes up - if I want to stop at that point you get a view and no vote.

2. In member challenges non-members can view but not vote.

I'm a sorter - i view everything i vote on at least twice

i do most of the things above.
I also almost never comment until i have voted, so returning for comments will add an extra view (i think)
