( And if anyone is wondering why I've been up this whole time....well...it was around 9:30pm as I sat in my office cubicle that I remembered my car was still at the shop. I found myself stranded at the office. Tried calling my mom for a ride but wasn't able to get ahold of her till real late. I had a lot of work to do so decided to just work thru the night. Furthermore advantageous as I'd have no ride back to work even if I did get home. Except hitching a ride with my mom who goes to work 2 hours before me. So I figure this way, I get the work I needed to do done. And once 7am rolls around I can go pick up my car. Silly me... I must be the "Absent Minded Photographer" *lol*)

When I get home I will play with these images and see what I can come up with but to give another photo out.
Edit: Took out images that shouldn't be there.

Here's one of mine that could do with touching up. Thought that it looked a little flat.
edit - taken picture off until it is decided how to do it.

Here is one. No editing done except converting from raw to jpg for post.
EDIT: Taking down picture until we decide on how to post the next picture for processing.

This is my attempt at 'Reaching Out'
I liked the color in the shirt and wanted to emphasize that so I bumped up the saturation in it then desaturated the background, burned it a little and adjusted the color. |

I'd like to make a suggestion that I hope doesn't piss people off. Heida stated at the beginning of this thread that the image needs to be a good shot to start with. "Reaching Out" was a great example - it has a strong subject that needed to be emphasized better.
This group runs the risk of degenerating into something where everyone says "do mine, do mine!" - I suggest that Heida, as the Mentor of this group, perhaps could select candidate images that she thinks are strong enough to begin with and would benefit from some post processing magic.
It would still be the responsibility of the rest of us to comment and try our hand (and share our methods) with our fixes.
Thoughts?
Dave

Ok post a picture or question or something and have fun !
any suggestions to this thread would be fine too :)
ps it´s an open thread |
The ones that has posted is doing what heida ask us to do. How is she going to select a candidate image if we don't post? If you feel the picture is not good enough to try post processing leave a comment.
I agree we should do one image at a time and not have multiple images going at once. And we need to comment on the original image that is being processed. And if a user post an image that don't have what it takes he/she needs a comment letting them know why it doesn't have what it takes to be edited.
Just my opinion.

Posting all the candidate images in the thread could lead to a lot of clutter. If Heida is willing, sending them via email is probably a better solution. Then she could post the one that has been chosen.

Agreed. How about everyone that wants to post in this thread create a folder in there portfolio that is named "post processing II images" and we can simply ask heida to check those folders and pick a picture she feels has a good starting point. That way we can simply ask heida to check our portfolio > "post processing II images" folder to see if there is a picture there she would like to be the next project.
That way instead of posting pictures we can just post "please check my picture for possible editing project, or something like that and we want have a thread with a lot of pictures that don't get processed.
Do any of you think that will work?

Heida! Is it possible for you to post the un-processed original of your Fairyland pic? I would love to see what you started with!

I'm all for structuring this thread to keep it from degenerating into something so confusing we don't get anything from it. So, I'll stop for now but since I've already put some time and effort into this one I'll post it.
I wanted to bring out the buildings some more without losing the colors in the sky and blowing the highlights so I did some dodging/burnig then added a brightness/contrast and selective color adjusment layer. |

I like that idea - I agree that it will work better than everyone posting in here - removed mine for now until it is decided how to do this.

This is how I think it should work. Just my opinion and I have the right to be wrong :)
1. We start with a good image. We did that with Sajâs âReaching Outâ photograph. Thank you Saj.
2. We comment on the Original as advised by heida.
3. When we post our version of post-processing on the image we include steps at how we achieved the effect.
4. If we try to better our post-processing of the same image DO NOT post separate from your original version. Edit your original post to include your second, third, etc. attempts at post processing. It will help us poster to see the improvements and not clutter the thread.
5. Instead of posting at random pictures to be processed. Create a folder in your portfolio and when heida feels it time for a new photograph to be worked on we post a link to the folder for this thread and she can pick the best candidate for our next post processing project.
What do all think?

Agreed and folder has been created. I think once an image is chosen the original should be uploaded so we can all work on a bigger file though. |
