Hello all~

After four good years, the two factory batteries on my Sony DSC-F505V are rapidly dying and I need to replace them. In true Sony fashion, it seems that Sony is no longer making the batteries for this particular camera, so looks like I'm forced to buy aftermarket.

My question is, does anyone have any experiences with aftermarket batteries? Is there any brand better than the other? If anyone has experience with this particular camera, that'd be great, but any input would be appreciated. I've heard bad things about aftermarket batteries, so I'm a little concerned about having to use them, but I don't have much choice.

Thanks!
:) Laura

I'm using 4 original Canon BP511's and 2 Inca third party batteries. I don't see any difference between the two types at all. They all get good use and the 3rd party ones have a life just as long as the Canon's and are a 3rd of the price! I'd say give it a go! As to brands, there are lots around so you'll just have to try some. I'm not sure if the Inca brand are available outside of Australia but I got these from my old place of work at cost price! :)

I bought a "power 2000" battery for my canon. It lasts a bit longer than my canon battery and was less expensive. I'm not so much into stats so I can't tell you how many pictures I take with each one, but they give me a good day of shooting.

You have six batteries for your one camera?

The F505 uses NP-FS11 batteries?
The same ones were used in the DSC-P1 camera that we still use at our construction firm.

We replaced our NP-FS11 battery with the Lenmar DLS11 battery.
//www.lenmar.com/details.asp?model=DLS11&product=digital&type=batteries&manufacturer=Sony

According to the shop, the Lenmar batteries come out of the same factory as the Sony branded ones. I would not be surprised if other brands use those as well. Just another print on the same battery.
It still works well after 9 months.

They are Infolithium as well.

I run the battery grip on my camera so there's 2 batteries, I keep 2 spare plus I have a G2 which uses the same batteries! Rather have too many than not enough!

The 'Digital Concepts' battery I have seems to work just as well as my Nikon EN-EL3s. I've never had a problem with it.
