The editor of LensWork, Brooks Jensen, has a very interesting portfolio of photographs:
Brooks Jensen: Made of Steel
There is an interesting article in the current issue of LensWork about lessons learned that is centered around this portfolio. I have asked for permission to reproduce the article here... Hopefully I will post the article soon...

Here's a quote from the article:
"After I developed the negatives and contact sheets from Dollar’s Garage I began to look at them more carefully. I realized how many potential images I’d passed by – small compositions that I could now see buried in the details of the larger views on my contact sheets."
I found this particularly interesting. I have had this very thing happen to me so many times and it's frustrating... especially when I can't easily go back and do it over.
I see a lot of this in other's photography as well. I usually try to comment on it when I do see it. There are quite often smaller compositions within a certain view that could make a much more interesting photograph...

Excellent portfolio. I can only hope to have one as good (Still under construction though). Thanks for sharing. You know now of course I will be picking your brain regularly on the "How to's..." |
