I just came across a Tamron 28-75 f/2.8 XR Di for $300 (used, but with Warranty and receipt). :sigh:.. I really want it - but I just got a lens! yikes.. oh, the dilemma. If I got it, then I'd feel obligated to get a good wide-angle down the line (which would probably happen anyways, I suppose) in order to fill up my range and eliminate the kit lens.
On the other hand, I could be saving my money for a portable hard drive, a flash, a new tripod (that will go horizontally), or something else that I also don't need but would really really like to waste the little money that I have on. All this not long after my accidental (yet pleasant)
Any opinions (on my situation, not the lens itself)?
edit: No, I don't have much money - but the way I've been spending it on camera gear lately, you might think I do!

Hey Brian,
You'll have to decide if it's better to have the lens or the accessories.
As for the Tamron, I'd recommend a new Canon 24-70L with the most expensive filter you can find. O/W any filter less than $100 or any lens not Canon L will make your images look like vomit or poop or both.
Ha ha, just kidding. If it was me, I'd get the lens over the other stuff.

The lens...no question. I need all that other stuff too but you know what? I have more fun taking pictures with that lens than anything! :)

Rereading my post, I realized that with all the jumping around and changing sentences, I didn't even finish one! I meant to say "not long after my accidental (yet pleasant)"... purchase of the Sigma 105. That thing has certainly taken over as #1 lens on my camera.
Too bad the Tamron isn't 18-75 with all that quality - because then I would be able to sell my kit lens and not worry about that lost range. Sigh.. I guess the upside is that I'll actually have a job in a few months (once I finish school). I wonder if the meager amount left in my checking will sustain me until then, if I get this lens.. hmmmm..
I think I'd rather have the lens too, but wasn't sure if I was being rational - a lot of those other things are pretty important too! I'm glad that I'm not the only one that prioritizes things this way :P

Being a senior in college I would pass :) According to your equipment you already have lenses covering this same area with the exception of the F2.8.
If you had the chance to use if for making money I would see where you could justify the cost.
Edit: But hey I'm just the grumpy old man that hounded two son's trough college LOL ....

If you don't have a flash and are just itching to spend some money, I'd say get one of those instead. A 420EX or one of those sigma flashes opens up a lot of new possibilities that the onboard just doesn't give you.

Right when I was considering dropping the idea, the guy responded to me and said he'd unload it for $280 since I have to drive about 40 minutes each way to his place. Guess I can't refuse that offer!
Thanks for all of your input, I appreciate it :) - guess I'll have to be extra thrifty for awhile in order to help save up some of that money again.
