I was flicking through a Freeview box in my Bed & Breakfast room last night, and saw a channel showing some photos which were entries to the BBC Digital Picture of Britain competition. There was then a 5 or 10 minute "Photography Masterclass" where experts give tips and advice on capturing great photographs.

One of my photos that I entered into the competition was used as an example! I was so excited! I shouted to my girlfriend "Hey look my photos on TV!" and she was like "Is it? Thats not yours. Is it yours?" and then the presenter said "This photo, by Ben Roberts" and my name came up on the screen! Straigt after my photo there was a photo of Clevedon Pier (my hometown) which was a real co-incidence too!

Here is my photo that was used:

If anyone has Freeview, I think it was on channel 701, and is repeated along with a couple of other programmes on different photographic topics, constantly all day. If you occasionally flick over you might see it! :) I don't have Digital TV at home so now I can't see it anymore or record it, but I thought I'd let you know cos I think it's quite exciting, hehe :) I think you can press the red button on BBC1 to see it too, but I'm not sure...

Here is some info from the BBC website:

besides, he's got all night, so 6 hours watching the telly seeing his pic every 20 minutes or so, 10 minutes posting this thread, another 3 hours revelling in the experience of being on TV, that leaves about 10 minutes for the sweety... plenty of time. ;)

It's about time you came on TV....

About freeview.. Is that on Satelite? I can recieve (and record) all BBC programs that are broadcasted via sat... So i would be able to record it or is it only on terestrial Digital TV?

Thanks! :)

Freeview is digital TV recieved via the terrestrial signal I think... but it shows the same channels which are broadcast via sat, so I'm guessing you would be able to get it! :)

Man, that's cool. The only time I see my pictures on tv is when I connect the yellow wire from the camera to the tv :P

Nope... we had recorded the latest episode of Digital Picture of Britain and I watched it after you texted me but... nada.

What channel do they show the entries to the competition on and those masterclasses?

And did you ever post that envelope????

:oP

Not sure if it has a channel on other services that aren't Freeview, but try pressing The Red Button on BBC1 and clicking Digital Picture of Britain.

Page 5 of the Guardian - the Aldgate picture is mine!

Saw my shoulder on TV as the camera crew was right behind me.
