thanks for the attention... now, the SPORTS challenge's description says, "Capture the action of the sport of your choice."

so I reckon those studio setup shots of trophies, medals, balls, or sports equipments (inclusive of uniforms) are not allowed.

I think i'll have to switch on ESPN and grab some pics off the screen, lol.

EDIT: added BOLD captions where its due.

Hey, everything is allowed (well almost), you might get a low vote but it's allowed.

I'm actually with Shadow on this one. I've been trying to figure out how to capture the action of my favorite sports without access to the games themselves...perhaps I'll have to capture the action of the fans watching the sport. (and for soccer, that can get pretty active!)

I did a studio on the last sports challenge, got slammed. So, don't do it unless ya want to have fun getting slammed.

Go to almost any city park on a Sunday afternoon and find people enjoying impromptu sports activities from baseball to jogging. Opportunities abound for photographing sports outdoors. If you are housebound then you are stuck with a more limited selection, like nerfball! But, I agree that studio productions are not going to score well.

Yes, and should you go to the park or ballfield and photograph children playing sports, I am sure you will get assailed for taking pictures of your children (regardless of whether you even know them).

Hmmmm.
(Gringo ponders on his colorful studio shot of beetle racing)
Maybe I should go back to my original plan of shooting the horse mucus Olympics.

I did a sunset and scored a top 20 finish.

The voters only care about the challenge description when it suits them.

Don't we already have that? It's called baseball. Or maybe that's the sport of watching grass grow. ;oP

I intend to enter an overly blurred shot to show the action then!

Hahah i saw some great baseball on cnn the other day - one guy whacked himself in the face with his own bat, a pitcher was thrown out of the game for throwing balls into peoples but and one especially talented playing ducked and covered when the ball came his way. I'll give a 10 to anyone that was there to photograph the grown man on his knees cowering at the pending doom of the baseball.

I don̢۪t think a studio shot is out of the realm in this challenge. The hard part would be to convey action while doing the studio shot but if achieved you would be rewarded because of creativity. It̢۪s a risk the photographer has to ask himself or herself if it̢۪s worth taking.

So don̢۪t limit yourselves, just put 110% into your photograph whether it̢۪s an outdoor or studio shot. And have fun...

BTW: I wish all the best in this challenge.

Can you apply a sepia effect or change it to B&W within the basic editing rules?
