What kind of accessories are you all using with yours? Anybody using a flash bracket, filters, external flash? Also, I can't find my manual, I think it got left in a car. Can anyone tell me if shooting in "fine " mode instead of normal is consider shooting raw? Or is Jpg the only option I have with this camera? Whatever tips or info you have that you think might help me or someone else to better use this camera.
Thanks in advance.

I have one as my back up camera to the Fuji S7000. You can shoot raw on the S602Z but I usually always shot 6 fine. I have the telephoto lens extension but for as often as I have used it on either camera, I cannot say it was worth the money except for the fact that it came with another adaptor tube, so I have two. I always had the adaptor tube on the camera for circular polarizer and uv filters. Also for close up filters. I carry a 10x close up filter all the time and also have a one at home plus another set of 1x, 2x and 4x close up filters. I do not have any other filters but have thought of getting a ND or IR, just never got around to it.
The setting for raw on the 602 is on the set menu for quality and is H or the first setting....with a 128 smart media card in the camera, it shows the number of images available as 7, at F(ine) it gives 53. I never used anything but smart media in the s602 so I do not know what a CF or microdrive would yield at raw.

The S602 predates the concept of RAW. It's ;best; is a TIF file. No raw conversion needed, but no options to alter WB, exposure etc. It is the same info as a JPG, jut not compressed, no loss of detail/data.

There is no TTL capability for flash use except with the built in one. SO most any external flash will work (trigger voltages are ok up to 400v). You will run the camera in manaul mode. the flash...depends on which one. I used an old Quantarray (via ebay for $25) and it worked..but i had to do the GN math in my head...too much work for me. I now have a Metz 54 and with it you can set SOO many parameters and it will read out on the LCD what to set the camera at. Still not all auto, but better.

Filter wise...i used a circ polarizer a lot via the extension tube. i had close up filters, but the macro mode is soooo good i never used them.

far from being ashamed, I'm very happ wi my 602z

Like banmon, I have he telephoto lens but its not great frankly...

I do use the extension tube wih a uv filter permanently in place, it also has a rubber hood.

Other filters I sometimes use: circular polar, macro lens. I always thought the built in macro was prety good but the mcro lens makes it even better!!!

Most important accessory? Batteries, 3 sets of rechargables and a charger.

I use a 1gb cf card and a 128smart for backup.

`Teary eyed nostaligia mode on` - I lovd my S602, it was my first `serious` digicam and taught me hell of a lot about photography. However I dished out £90 for the teleconverter and was serious underwhelmed by it, porr quality and at 1.4x hardly worth using. I do remember it as being a battery-eating fiend though.

I regret selling my 602, great macro facility, only way I could afford the 550ex flash I bought.
Batteries... I never had any problem, 3 sets of uniross nimh rechargeables and I never ran short.
I never shot tiff, too big at 18mb and not worth it.
Great cam, wish I still had mine.

WooHoo, thanks for the responses.I knew you guys would come thru. Good info. One of my cameras pins bent where the compact flash card goes back around Christmas and I had it repaired. Since then, seems like it's not focusing as well, I thought it was cause I need new contacts myself, then I thought it was the batteries. Funny, I had the first two sets of rechargeables for a couple of years and was perfectly happy. Then it seemed like they might be getting burned out ( this was after I had the camera serviced), so I bought new Durcell rechargeables and it seems to be eating them up. After being perfectly happy with this camera for two years, suddenly it is aggravating me, seems slower, focus seems soft most of the time and batteries are not lasting as long, thought it was all my imagination, but I am beginning to worry. Any thoughts on this? It cost me $200.00 to get it serviced last time, I am thinking I should possibly just invest in a new Canon. Any thoughts on any of this from anyone?

As for accesories, I have many:

-55mm extension tube with a UV filter. I leave this on the cam permanently.
-55mm IR (Hoya R-72) filter
-55 polarizer
-55m rubber hood (which protrudes into super wide angle shots)
-Vivitar 285h flash gun
-Cable shutter release adaptor (which was produced by an individual that does not make them any longer)
-a half-dozen CM cards
-many, many, many batteries. It isn't that this cam eats batteries, really. I've been left, once, high and dry with no batteries, and I promised to never let it happen again.

I considered the telephoto/wide angle, but read not-so-steller things about them. felt that I should save that cash for when I do my upgrade.

I don't think I'm going to sell this cam when I upgrade. As stated, this thing has an incredible macro feature that I have grown to love.
