I don't really think any of these would have done well, and a few aren't really even obvious macro shots, but I'm curious to see how they're received. I intended to enter one (I'm not sure which) but I had to work until 9:30 and during my breaks I had birthday preparations to deal with (not mine) - so I just completely forgot about DPC. Wow! Amazing feat, eh? :) Anyway, I'd really appreciate some feedback.
By the way, any bugs involved are alive, which is partly why the focus is so bad. Only partly, though! A couple of the bug ones are pretty much unpolished, but I thought I'd share anyway.

Beautiful images. I missed posting to the macro challenge myself. Personally, I don't feel bad since there are a lot of terrific images in that challenge and I can't quite get what I would like with my camera.
Your pictures are excellent. I admire your work. Always have.

Thanks for the feedback! The yellow rose water drop macro's probably the one I would've submitted, given that it's the best focused of the lot of them; I wouldn't have expected much from it though, given the composition and the vaguely abstract feel of it.
I appreciate the comments. |

Soar - the DoF makes it hard to look at. Perhaps a different angle since the pattern and colors on the moth are interesting. Maybe from the top down?
Creeping 1 - better of the two. Most of the subject is very clear (minus the rear part on the top edge, but focus is not at that point - the far legs are not significant to matter. The lack of the black lines that show in #2 makes it less confusing and allows the subject to stand out.
Death - lighting is hard. The detail would be much better with different lighting.
Dance - would be much stronger with a tighter crop - make the bug really the center of the shot, not just in the center.
Inner - I like it, like the colors, like the composition - just not the Dof. Not sure what would make it better.
Vaguely would be a great shot if in focus. I could not find a focused point. But the colors, contrast and framing are really nice.
Abandoned - crop more off the right side to get rid of the blurry spider web in the corner. Nice shot.
Over all - nice work. Good eye.

Thanks for the critiques. That shot is OOF on purpose :)

Thanks for all of the great comments! The spider's pretty creepy looking, but he was really small... so he wasn't very scary. Not until I saw the actual photos anyway :) He lived somewhere in the vicinity of that tattered spiderweb. |

I would've voted the spiderweb high, as wel as the creepy#1, wich is the best of the two.
The other photos don't really appeal to me that much, though they're not bad at all.
