My one goal was to get a good angle including this monument, which is on the logo and everything for our city. It was more to represent the location of the fireworks, than the fireworks themselves. I'm pretty happy with this one. From where they were shooting, I couldn't get the whole monument because it had all sorts of construction and lights in front of it, so I settled for focusing on the top.

Man...just got back from the fireworks. If I have one picture that turned out I will be ecstatic!! That is some hard stuff! It was windy almost all day...then fireworks started and the wind stopped...so unfortunately a lot of my pics have smoke in them :/ Gotta get them on the laptop...keep your fingers crossed!!
July 5 Edit: Okay...went through photos and uploaded a few...here's the link: Fireworks 2005

What a blast. This is the only one I've processed so far. Hard to get the timing right. I cropped and increased contrast. :)
They dissolved pretty quickly in the wind so I didn't try longer exposures.

These and some of the photos in my portfolio are some of the best photos I got tonight. It was a pretty disappointing show overall, though.

Raining pretty hard here in Battle Creek Michigan for our fireworks show. It was awesome as always, beautifully set to a nice variety of music and over 20 minutes long. I will blame it on the rain as the reason why I didn't get awesome photos like you guys. |

Gee golly gosh darnit. I'm seriously upset that I didn't get to take pictures with the new camera. As it started to rain so did the fireworks. Of course the camera had to get put in the car. Oh well, at least I got to see some. |

I'd like to try again. There's not much time to try different settings. Just caught a glimpse after it processed. I just might have to go hang out in the amusement park parking lot...they shoot fireworks off every night. :D

hey folks.....seriously great work. Just am awed by the wonderful shots shared here. I am appreciating including some landscape into the frame. Only landmark I've ever had the opportunity to shoot near was a fews years back in St Louis on the river with the Arch in the frame. Those shots are long gone though.
Thanks again to all who posted here. Wonderful work.

This was my very 1st time shooting fireworks and we could see them from the street we live on... so I only stepped out the front door:
There are some excellent shots in this thread... and I love yours over the water Beagleboy! I want to try that next year!
Edit: The thumbnails are being fussy - sometimes they are working. Also, all are unedited except for a crop to aspect ratio and resize.

Those are awesome shots. I love how you got right up close and made it more of an art piece. Very unique.
