Has anyone used this one?
2.2 with adapter rings
I want to get one and this has more elements/groups than the others, but will the 2.2 lose details or get soft? Or should I go down to 1.5 and a 52mm one. Looks like they have a nice one for that. I'd have to buy a stepdown ring. Does it matter if it's 52mm on a 58mm adapter?
Here's the page for the other one.
Any advise would be appreciated. |

I had a teleconverter for my A70. Yes, they do lose quality, and also focusing is slower because less light is getting into the lens.
If you get a 1.5x TC with a 52mm thread, then you try putting that onto a 58mm thread G6 (if I read you properly that's what I think you're doing), you will definitely get vignetting at wide angle of the zoom range, and may even get it at full telephoto. With my A70 I got vignetting (a black circle affect) at wide angle with my 1.6x TC.

Well. I was thinking of this. When I bought the lens mate, I bought it wider than needed because of the vignetting. Anyone else? |

Sorry for the noob question but, when you say 52mm thread for example, does that mean the diameter of the thread ring is 52mm? I measured the thread ring on my FZ20 and it's 62mm from one end to the other; does this mean only a 62mm converter fits mine?
And yes quite a bit of detail is lost with converters. A few days ago someone posted a moon picture shot with a 2x TC, and the blurriness is the first thing you notice. I would settle for a 1.4, 1.6 at most.

Yes and no about the thread size. Yes you will need a 62mm size but you can buy a step ring that will convert the size either up or down depending on what you need. The 2.2 tc is something like 68mm but comes with step down rings for 52mm and 58mm so I can use it on my lensmate adapter that is 58mm. I think I will go with that one because of the way it is made and if it doesn't work, send it back for the other one. |

Most certainly a teleconvertor made for a particular camera/lense is better then a generic one. Of course they are so much more expensive.
