It won't take any pictures any larger though. So I am frustrated :p |
I don't know what photobucket is. Sounds like you're confusing file size (in Kilobytes) with photo size (resolution). You need to make sure your uploaded file is 640 pixels on at least one side. I typically do 640x480 or 640x520. That size is related to how many Kilobytes your final file is, but not the determining factor. Get your photo sized to 640 by (something) -- only then do you worry about reducing the actual file size to lower than 150K.
Anyway, have no idea what photobucket is, but if you need a free utility to do this kind of thing, I recommend Picasa2 (a free Google util). I'm sure others would have even better recommendations for file resizing.

why cant you just increase the JPEG compression? This way, your photo size can be maintained at 640x640 (if you want to) while reducing the file size significantly. I usually save my images at 10% compression if they are big. |

That's great idnic! And I think my latest banal shot of ordinary household object did amazingly well LOL:
In case nobody's noticed I'm doing a whole series of these sorts of shots. Since so many people freaking out at my "manipulations" of the basic editing ruleset.

Nice finish, Robert. I missed voting on that particular one, but any hairbrush would be obsolete to me. :)

I am pretty happy with my 18th place - tied with my very first challenge entry for placement - and is my 3rd highest scoring entry, which bumped that flower off my profile page, which was really my main goal. :P
Thanks to bear and all the others who left some great comments! And thanks to "Mathman" (RolandB) who kept saying there would be a last minute boost in the score.

Woohoo!!! 13th place for me...
I just wanted to thank everyone for their comments, and I wanted to clarify my thought process on this one...
I received a few comments saying that the American Flag shouldn't be the focus point because it isn't obsolete...I agree that it isn't obsolete...that's why I titled my picture "Made In America". What I am representing as obsolete in this photo is stuff that is "Made In America".
I just didn't want people thinking that I was putting down the flag or disrespecting it in any way.
Thanks again for the votes and especially the comments!!!

I was one of those "boosters" actually; I didn't get around to voting my seeded group upscale until this evening, and this one traveled from a 6.0 to the giddy heights of 10ness.

I came in at 85th, with an avg. of 5.504, which isn't really that amazing for all of you wonderful amazing people, but that's the highest I've ever come in! I'm so happy!! :) |
