This shot was taken with a reversed 50mm lens (good, but requires very close focusing)-

...and this one was taken with a plain old 70-200mm-

Given that the honeybee was taken from 3 feet away, I think a 25mm extension tube on the 70-200 ought to provide a decent macro. I've never used an extension tube, so I don't know how much closer I'll be able to focus- hence my question.

Anyone try the "Pro Optic Auto Extension Tube"s?

Cheaper than Kenko, and on DPReview, in the forums, someone said they work with EF-S lenses, whereas the Kenko do not. (I have a 10-22mm EF-S lens I was thinking about, and leaving my options open for the 60mm EF-S macro.)

Oh great, now I have to go out & buy a magnifying glass. Well, at least I can burn the ants when I'm done photographing them.
