Does anyone know what kind of flowers these are? I love to take floral shots, but my knowledge of flora is reeeeeealy limited.

A picture of more of the plant might be helpful. A lot of flowers look alike but the foliage is different.

Unfortunately, I focused on the flower itself. Didn't get much in the way of stems or leaves.

Could be wild geraniums, could be platycodons, could be lots of things. How big are they, what shape are the leaves, how are the leaves arranged, where does it grow (fields, forest, seaside, mountains)?
Lots of variables to consider...

pink buttercup primroses. At least that's what my yellow primroses look like with their buds. I think they are native to Texas and a little higher north. I think they also may be known as Missiouri(sp) primroses. Well, it's been some time since I've been into flowers, so I might be wrong. |

What you posted looks very much like the Rhododendron bush next to my house. Especially with the pointy thingies.

Here's another pic (not the best quality). The flowers are about 1-1.5 inches in diameter, and you can kind of tell they have a bit of a "cloverleaf" shape. You can see a couple examples of the leaves (not great ones. This photo was taken along a fenceline in Southern California (San Diego area), near the ocean.

You people are awesome! I think we have a winner here! A little searching around on google images for "primrose" produced several images of "Mexican Primrose" that seem to be a dead on match. Makes sense, as San Diego is just a hop from Mexico. |
