Gringo is wondering what you did to Calvus and why it is that you have his camera? Is that the reason you had to dig that big hole in your backyard? The one you so cheerfully call âThe Water Gardenâ
(Iâm getting ready to put one of those in next month. Let me know if there are any âI wish I would havesâ that I should be aware of before I begin). And thanks again for attending my birthday party. It seems to have been an all nighter. ... and QMDI is just getting here... Stylishly late.
:)
edit:
:/ I have fat fingers and they jump over to letters that don't belong in my words. Sometimes they just fall asleep and forget to hit letters that should be in the words.

Calvus is still around :) He is just using a new name.
We were lucky to have my Brother In-Law to help build the water garden he created one in his yard a few years ago and he had more experience than I did.
We had two big concerns when designing our water garden.
1. Small sloping yard
2. Texas HOT sun.
The slope we dealt with by building the wall to house the waterfalls and retain the pond liner once it was leveled. I now wish we had made the waterfalls somewhat wider to allow for a more creative design and better use of the liner underneath the rocks. But we are real happy with the way it turned out. Especially at night with the underwater lights and landscape lighting.
The HOT sun we are dealing with right now by the use of a 12' market umbrella. The water remains quite cool throughout most of the day. And it really helps control the algae.
We are going to build and arbor or etc over the pond and deck later to get better shade.
I would say the biggest "I wish I would have" would be to have made it larger :)
We are planning on a big party July 3rd to celebrate the completion of the water garden and my birthday (July 4th).
Happy Birthday and If you want to chat more on the water garden send me an email or PM I will be glad to disuss it with you :)

Is that "G" as in G-ness? (Hmmm.... I like the sound of that, but not to be confused with genius).
Genus = Isolated species exhibiting unusual differentiation. Kinda like a Gringo.
