I just knew I should have posted this picture instead of my 5.0 scoring one:

I thought it didn't look very good at 640 resolution :(

I'm not so sure: that pic has some seriously blown highlights, strong haloing from being over-sharpened, and in my eyes, does not really meet the challenge! Given the apparently generally low scoring nature of the challenge, I would say that you are doing alright by comparison. Good luck in any case.

I truly don't want to hurt your feeling, but I know I will anyway,,, so here goes.

I would suggest you take solace in your current score since I honestly believe that this photo would not have succeeded in garnering a higher score. Considering the very nature of the photo and the quality of the image, I fear you may have done yourself a disservice had you entered this photo.

The best of luck with your current entry.

I have to agree with the other commenters, that I think you made the right choice. Not that this particular shot is bad, I just think that it may not have done as well as even a 5.0. IMHO, the photo you posted as your second choice is way overprocessed and would not have scored well with me, due to the apparent (to me) lack of relative subject matter and overprocessed appearance of the image...

Not trying to burst your bubble, but I think you made a wise choice. If it's any consolation, you're still ahead of me with your current score too! And based on your Average Score Given, you seem to feel strongly about what you like and dislike. So, I hope you respect others' opinions and advice along the same strict lines. I'd say you're ahead of the game...

:-)

hmm...whatever your pic is it probably was a better choice than this one above. It is an interesting rendition - made me think of a few Pink FLoyd Cover shots and some from that cover art guy (can never remember his name). However, the blow-outs make it look very harsh and over processed. There are some artifacts in the foreground as well that are very distracting. Just my opinion...what the heck do I know?

On a positive note, I like the work you did around the taller buildings and the way they appear to 'glow' or 'radiate' while still being dark and basically featurelss. I think with a slightly different crop to focus more on the city and less sky, and slightly different processing applied, it could be a very interesting photo indeed.

Where is this by the way? Your profile says you are from Oslo, is this in Oslo? Is this Olso?
