I've spent the last two days without an update button. While I know there is no chance in heck I will win, especially with Slip and Leagle and their masterpieces, I must feed my addiction and allow my lowly image to remain. Two days without being able to feed my habit was nearly my undoing. I found myself standing at the microwave, repeatedly pressing the start button. I switched lightswitches on and off late at night just so I could see something change. Alas, at midnight tonight, I get my update button back! And I will be here at 12:01 for my first fix.

My beneficient image will almost certainly spread its greatness to every other image entered into the challenge. By its eminent power, exposure and focus issues will be fixed, composition perfected, sharpness guaranteed, focal points inserted, WOW factor guaranteed for every image entered into this challenge. If there was ever a challenge to take a week off work to savour in all its glory, this will surely be it.

My only problem is that, in its godlike self sacrifice, in return for selflessly improving the lot of every other photograph, my photo may shoulder some significant burdens. I do not yet know what ravages they will play on its metallic and righteous perfection.

All that I can be sure of is that, if my photograph wins (as it surely deserves to), it will have dragged every other photograph up with it - though that self sacrifice may deny it the 10 it deserves. If another image wins the challenge, it can only be as a result of the self sacrifice that my transcendent image has made by taking on and shouldering the faults of the winner (it will have taken on many faults) and the faults of many others (and there are many).

Please - there is no need to thank me. But PayPal donations will be gratefully accepted.

My photo isn't just bad - it's helluh bad! It aches to be ignored, begs for the brown, and downright flounders for the 4's! I have yet to show it to anyone, not even to my entire self, as I cannot fully realize how bad it is, lest my poor little mind leak from my ears like hot pudding. So, why did I enter this horrendously horribly hacky photo in the first place? I'll tell you, I will! The reason, as boggling as it may be, is that it was the best photo I took of metal in the past week! Impossible you say! Well, YOU don't know me, do you?!? Wait, and in less than 8 days but more than 7 you will be able to see which photo is mine, whether it was as bad as I know it is, and whether a quadtone photo featuring mostly sky will win...again.

All joking aside...I have not taken my metal photo yet and I have no ideas for it. However, I guarantee a ribbon and EXIF data proving that it was taken no earlier than 11:00 pm this evening. I am so sorry to disappoint all of you. Better luck in future challenges.

Don't worry - my photo can fix pretty much anything it is so powerful. You may not recognise the wondrous quality of your photo when it appears in a few hours.

Also, you may find that your camera has changed into a D-SLR by the time voting ends (you may need to hold it quite close to the screen while my photo is showing for this to work).

Well....I'm IN!!!

I've been scared of the Open Challenges because of those narsty low-ballers but I like my image so I figured I'd give the masses a last chance to kick my butt, all over the place.

I liken the Open Challenges to being in the Blue seats(nose bleed territory)at Madison Square Garden for a Ranger game back in the 70's against The Boston Bruins. Rough stuff. You usually got hit in the head with something, by the end of the night...the least painful being a full beer.

I think he was so busy swaggering around that he forgot to REALLY get his entry ready...now he's scrambling!

I hadn't been to a game (major/semi-major) in so long I was surprised by the plastic beer bottles at a Potomac Nationals game recently! Sure looked like long necks...actually they were, just plastic. Making everything easier/safer these days. ;^)

Now THAT would be really funny...I can see him now trying to photograph the nearest metal - perhaps his fillings?
