it was kinda cold today. it was in the upper 50's and it was raining a little. it doesn't really rain here though, it mist's. the people are really nice and there are a lot of real photographers around with dslr's and high quality digi cam's. I was out for about an hour and got talked to at least 5 times by people. sometime we are going on a whale watch sometime this week, that should be different.
I'll try to update every night, the house we are at has wireless internet from the coffee shop next door, signal is kinda weak but meh, it works |

Welcome to Maine...it's been my backyard all of my life. One of our favorite sayings around here is if you don't like the weather wait a minute. It literally changes that fast. Don't be discouraged it was in the 90's here last Monday. But you get use to the quick changes, especailly on the coast where the weather changes with the tides. From the deer picture you posted, it looks like you've found the "Loop" in the park. It's a beautiful ride, which I'm sure you already know. Don't forget the typical stops of Thunder Hole and Cadillac Mt. (beautiful sunsets, I've never been for a sunrise.) Personally one of my favorite places in the park are the carriage roads, built by an endowment from the Rockerfeller family.(They summered on the island in
the early part of the 20th century. Their "cottage" is quite impressive.) You may not get your typical "Maine" shots of the boats and the ocean there but it's still quite spectacular. The canopy of trees and cobblestone paths is of an era past. Another more overlooked area is Jordan Pond, which has great mountian and lake views combined. Two other beautiful areas on Mt. Desert that are far less "touristy" than Bar Harbor are Southwest Harbor and Seal Cove. Both worth the short car ride. Have a great time in Maine and the deer will seem like nothing if you're luck enough to spy a moose.

I can't view the images here at work (our nazi proxy strikes again), but I took a trip to Bar Harbor years ago. I'm setting this thread to 'watch' so that I can see your pics when I get home tonight.
That town had a lot of character, as I remember it. I had a very enjoyable time there.
