What's your own critique?

Is this a trick question? LOL. I think they are good. They're in focus, they've got good depth of field, good use of highlights and shadows. I think the first and the third are my favorite ones, but I want YOU'RE opinion. Doesn't matter how good I think my photos are...they don't win ribbons on my critique but on yours. :)

I think what John was getting at is that you didn't provide any background info or story behind the images and no notes were included when you uploaded.

Not much to say. They were taken outside, at around 5:00 today. Standard macro shots. no lighting used except for the sun, and all the camera's technical equiptment is listed, including settings used...just wanted to know if they're good or not, why/why not, what would you change...standard critique. that information isn't available during voting for a challenge, yet people still manage to give a critique. That's all I'm asking for. :)

atsxus, I think they are lovely. The colors are very appealing and the framing is also nice. Should do well in most any interior. I take it these are for prints? What lens did you use.

Actually, during voting if one wrote a critique rather than a quick comment then they'd never get through the photos.

In challenges this is the set up but when you have the chance to provide background info as to why you took the shot it can help those trying to help you otherwise it's like throwing a dart at a map to see where your next vacation should be.

No one wants to guess at what you were trying to achieve.

I appologize for bringing this all up here since it appears you are being used as a scape goat. Recently there have been complaints about people requesting a critique from the critique club but never receiving one. One of the issues was the photographer didn't bother to provide background info for the image when it was uploaded into the challenge. Why should anyone spend 20 - 30 minutes on a critique when the photographer didn't provide anything to go on.

Just my 2 cents.

If I have time later I may come back to take a longer look at your images.

I like the photos. I do feel like they look a tiny bit washed out. But that could be my laptop lcd, it is infamous for making photos look brighter then they really are.

Thanks, yes - they're for prints. I used my Sigma 105mm/2.8f macro

No.

In the first two, I think there are some lighting issues that I don't particularly like. There is a shadow on the left of the first image that creates some weight. The light on the second one is rather harsh, IMO. The third one is smooth.

I left a comment on all three. The last one is my favourite.

Sorry about the rant earlier. It wasn't meant to single you out. It was just an observation.

Looks good, something about the first one stands out to me. I think number one is the best.

I like the third one most. Good use of in focus and out of focus areas to frame an draw the attention to the middle of the photo. The lighting gives it a nice feel.
