40. I don't have a Woody. I've tried to get one, but was never able. I see lots of members here have woodies. Can DPC help me get one?

Answer: You can try this, but most likely you need to go to a whole 'nother type of picture site or respond to your spam emails.

41. I commented on a photograph in the "Grapefruit" challenge. I suggested only a moron would submit a strawberry when the challenge clearly requested pictures of grapefruit. The photographer did not mark my comment as helpful. Can I request a Site Council member to mark the comment as helpful?

Yes, of course. PM each SC member immediately and they will help you.

42. If I have a really great idea for a challenge but is past the cut-off time. Can I simply get in a plane, fly West, set my camera to that time zone, take the picture and fly back in time to submit it?

Answer: No - plane travel will not turn back time. On second thought, stay in the plane instead.
A Stewardess will be along to assist you shortly.

The answer is simple. In order to win a ribbon with a burned sky and moody landscape, you must move to Iceland. That, or take an extended holiday there, setting the date on your camera ahead for every shot in the hopes you can shoehorn them into challenges by creative title usage. Iceland is your only hope. ;o)

omg, i am soo doing that!

I think the Iceland mention is too specific and has too much pejorative connotation. I suggest the two instances of "Iceland" be replaced with "a country that shall not be mentioned in this context to allow for political correctness and sensitivity, but everyone knows which one we mean. It's the one with the beautiful sun, beautiful people and beautiful almost everything."

41. I have just won my first ribbon. How do i make sure that everybody who ever visits the site knows about it?

Answer. No matter what the forum topic is about, tag this fact on to the end of every thread. PMing the site council is also a good idea.

Addendum to that addendum: Also put it in a graphic and add it to your signature (make sure it's very tall), people love this!

44. When I try to submit my picture, it says it's too big. When I make it small enough to submit, I get comments about my picture being too small. What can I do?
A. In Photoshop, create a new layer above your photo. Use the fill tool and fill the layer with white. Now, flatten the image, save for web, and submit it with a title "High Key [fill in the blank]."

Addendum to that addendum: Or trade your camera in for a sub-2MP camera to get smaller photos. Plenty of members who would be able to accomodate you on that trade.

46. I am thinking about getting a new computer. What should I get?
A. Patience grasshopper. If you now have a Mac, get a PC. If you now have a PC, get a Mac. The time and money you will spend on the new platform will distract you from your photography and improve my chances of winning a ribbon.
