I was looking through this website.masters of photography[
When I just a randomly came across two photographers, Ansel Adams and William Eggleston. I have heard of Ansel Adams before and have seen some of his pictures but not this portfolio? While I was viewing both of these portfolios it suddenly hit me that I had seen these types of images before and that was in my photography. It was ironic that I picked these two out of the bunch that were listed and no one else. I am nowhere near how good these photographers are but there is a connection. I'll show you one connection with Ansel Adams.Rocky Climb
On this image the only thing I did was sharpen it when I made it into a smaller file size.
Now for William Eggleston, I take pictures in the same manner as he. I will go into a city or town and take pictures that catch my eye and do them from different angles. Whether it is people, signs, structures, etc. I have taken pictures in my house of different things from different angles and lighting. I grew up in the 60's and 70's so he or other photographers of the time probably influenced me in the way I photograph.
What are some of the photographers that might have influenced you the way you take your pictures?

I would probably have to say that my primary influence, besides magnetic, of course, has been his highness, Larry Flynt...

I don't think I'm influenced by anyone, I just take photos of random things.

Anyway... lol... I think I'm inspired by a lot of photographers, but I haven't been in it long enough to really say that one has more impact on me than the other. I do particularly like Edward Weston's stuff. Too bad I'll not likely be able to duplicate those techniques with a digital camera anytime soon...

Mag must be the good influence, 'cause Mr. Flynt would have wanted you to lose the apple. ;)

LOL,
Linda

a serious response now ..

i'm really not consciously influenced by anyone that i'm aware of. when a challenge comes up, i try to visualize something in my own mind rather than look for external ideas.

maybe if i did look for external ideas, i would do better in the challenges : )

I haven't found myself influenced by anyone famous. But what I do notice is that, as I visit more and more sites, see more and more fine photography, I get ideas for images. ("Wow, why did'nt I think of shooting that?!")

This tends to get me out the door trying things. That is true influence.

I'm not consciously influenced by anyone that I am aware of either, but when a challenge comes up, someone puts visualizations in my own mind, and I am incapable of looking for external ideas.

I must shoot reflections, I must shoot reflections, I must shoot reflections....

I have been heavily influenced by Bill from Sears photo studio.

I most admire Ansel Adams.

At least you were lucky enough to have Hustler, we had to get by with National Geographic and a rare nudist colony magazine. I am like most of you that responded I have no favorite photographer as yet. I would view pictures in magazines like Look, Life, Post, and even my mother's Photoplay, which was a tabloid magazine for movie stars and such. Photographs have always fascinated me and subconsciously I have picked up ideas from viewing photos. Another note on my picture of "Rocky Climb" that is the real color of the rock for it is a volcano on the Cascade Range.
