I went for a tour of our gold properties near the Utah/Nevada border yesterday. Two different types of drill rigs are running at different projects. You can see the salt flats in some of the photos. I saw a few lizards, a golden eagle, and a deer (pronghorn, I think?) photos not worth looking at. Also saw lots of great geology, scenery, and lots of grease-covered drillers. Those guys work pretty hard!

Hey, those are cool. I LOVE this kind of stuff. Once spent a month panning in Yreka, California. Total failure, but had a blast.
Thanks for the pictures. Makes me want to start up again.

What a gorgeous area! I'm a geology buff, so this kind of place fascinates me. One of these years I'd love to just spend a few weeks out there. Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful pictures with us!!!

Can anybody id this snake I came across yesterday? It was pretty noisy & seemed to be angry that I was taking his picture. I wish I had better zoom!
-edit: please pardon the blur, I was a bit nervous!

LOL Buzzmom.
The striking distance of a rattlesnake is about half its body length. Here is the Senior Geologist with his finger too close to the rattler. It's OK, though, it was very intent on taking a nip at me and hardly noticed him.
