Can anyone tell me the diffrent between Smart and Precision in Digital Zoom?
And what is it with AF mode? I got three options... Single, Monitor and Cont???
I dont have a laptop!
What is the best?
Then i got a big problem with my camera sony dsc-F828:(
On the monitor in my camera the picture looks very bright and good but when it is in my computer monitor it´s a lot darker and not the same???
Calibration is not the problem and then i also adjust the LCD brightness and those setup but it still doesn´t work???
I really need your dpc profi photographers help because i´m going for a landscape tour today and would be very happy if that problem could be solved :/
Thanks... asij |

Sony has a special algorithm that interpolates digital zoom so there is less noise than regular digital zoom with another camera. Set your camera to Precision and leave it there - there's no reason to leave it on Smart that I know of. Digital zoom isn't really that great since it just basically crops your photo in-camera, but there is definitely less digital noise using the Precision method; the noise unnoticeable on daytime outdoor shots. On indoor and night shots it really helps quite a bit, but you'll still have to run through NeatImage.
With your AF mode: Single = focus once when shutter is pressed halfway down. Takes the least amount of battery power. Monitor = camera tries to focus on what it sees until you snap the shutter. Better than single, but takes more battery power since the camera is hunting for focus more. Continuous means the camera focuses all the way through the shutter release. Best for taking shots of fast moving subjects like in sports, or things that are moving like flying birds. This takes the most battery power of all. For landscapes you could use Monitor, unless you've got moving animals in the scene. I use Continuous almost all the time.
Pictures always look better on the LCD screen because they are compressed to such a small size. I can't speak to your individual situation, but you could try zooming in while in the Review mode and take a closer look at the focus and such. I don't know why brightness is a problem for you...
Have fun today!

First off I NEVER mess with digital zoom, it only magnifies the image, not using glass so you will almost always get a poor image. You have to use a tripod and have great lighting to get a good shot. So I'm not really sure what the difference in those two are.
As far as your camera problem goes...which LCD brightness are you adjusting? Your monitor or camera? If you adjust the camera and it still looks bad on the computer try viewing on different computers, your computer may need help. If it still looks bad on different computers and good on your camera's LCD then it should really be checked and adjusted...check with sony website to see if maybe there are issues with this. If you camera is underexposing (darker) your images that is at least better than overexposing. You should be able to adjust dark images to a point.
Good luck. |
