MGI photosuite doesn't have a sharpen. But it does have an enhance. Can I use that?

What options do you have under enhance? I know with ACDSee, you have to click enhance before you get access to any of the editing options. Enhance is just a command that says "open this image for editing." This is the same thing folks here do when they open up a file in Photshop to sharpen and resize, etc... If MGI works the same as ACDSee, then as long as you use allowable editing commands once you've entered enhance mode, you should be fine.

I don't have any options. It just "enhances" the picture. It looks like sharpening to me. But....

I see that we are using the same camera... Before I got my F707, I had a Mavica FD-95. The FD-95 came with ArcSoft PhotoStudio LE which, in my opinion, is much better than the MGI PhotoSuite that came with the F707. How do you like the MGI software? I was disappointed when comparing it with the Arcsoft software. I had upgraded my LE verision of Arcsoft to the full package and I still use that for some things like resampling when I'm not using IrfanView.

I've been a Nikon N70 person for a bunch of years. We had one of the original Sony Mavicas but I didn't really use it much. I wanted to much control that I couldn't get from that camera plus the picture quality wasn't what my Nikon would give me. I'm really enjoying the F707. It takes some beautiful pictures. And then there's that immediate gratification thing.
As for MGI PhotoSuite, well I'm just learning how to use it. We actually have the Platinum addition which is better than the one that comes with the camera. I finally did find the sharpen feature.

Try PhotoCleaner (Click here to download) - it is a stand-alone tool that can do nice digital photo enhancements including great sharpening (unsharp mask). I was amazed how it works! |
