May as well get this started now. I was really, really torn between two completely different images. This is the one that didn't make the cut. I hope I chose well, 'cuz I love this picture:

I pulled this 12 hours before deadline. Thought the sidelighting, instead of backlighting, would get hammered.

Without doubt. That image does not qualify as a silhouette by my definition of the term, at least. Good pull :-)

If you pulled this one, the other must have been a doozie! This one's awesome!

I agree... the sidelighting makes it not a silhouette

This was taken 1 day before the challenge opened. I really wanted to go back and redo, but couldn't get to the beach in time =) How do you think it would have done?

I'm really bent that I missed another challenge entry. I've had this done for hours. I thought apples were voting tonight. UGH!

Well.... How would I have done with this one?

It seems to me to be too diffuse of subject and "arty" to do well with the voters, but it's avery interesting shot.

Probably not very well IMO, because it isn't a "true" silhouette as most people conceive them; too much soft, modelling light happening here. Nice shot though. And I could be wrong; there's quite a number of them shot like htis. Why not pick one of them and root for it?

IMO they're both really nice pictures I had to choose between. I left this behind because it seems too subtle in what I expected to be a riotously colorful challenge. Now I'm looking at it, and realizing that my riotously colorful shot is really just one of the crowd, so I'm wondering... Hindsight is great, huh?

Have to agree if this is 2nd choice, the first must be wonderful.

hard to say how this would have done, but entering it would have precluded me from posting up any of my other race photos.

I was outside waiting on my wife, and seen these boys loading up on some soda's. I kind of liked it.

Your Gull & Reeds are really pretty Bearmusic love the colors and the serenity of the image.

I was also torn between and really had a hard time distinguishing between silhouette and not so silhouette. I had my daughter choose one of my photos but I really liked this one she said it wasn't enough silhouette and rather uninteresting looking :( I like simple shots that tell me something :)

WOW, after a first look at the entries it's a good thing I didn't get my shot in there. I wouldn't have a chance! They are awesome shots!

So so many outtakes for this challenge!! But I really struggled between two of them in the end...I'm crossing my fingers that I chose the right one....

I did not enter this photo because I was not sure if it would qualify as a silhouette, but I just have to share it, because I REALLY love it for some reason

I like this photo but no it wouldn't have been considered a silhouette. Goodman you're one lucky girl to be able to witness such wildlife!

This picture was taken few weeks before this challenge ... too bad I couldn't go back and give it another try :(
As far as I've seen, it is going to be a very tight challenge, since many of the pictures have a great quality. And many of the outtakes I have seen here also would have scored well in this challenge.
Congratulations to all :))
