I've tried searching back threads and I can't dig what I need out of them... just too many. I would like to know what sort of small tripod you use that you carry around alot. Looking for something small enough to fit in a backpack (1'?) so it can be toted along on international trips.

Thanks!
Wade

The Manfrotto 714 series may work for you, but it's not really strong enough for a heavy SLR rig.

I have this one, used it quite a bit when traveling with my old Nikon 995. I've attempted to use it with the 10D, with pretty limited success. It will work, with a light lens, and carefully set up, but you better have a remote release, 'cause it's a pretty effective seismometer, LOL.
You'll also be limited in the angles you can get. Portrait is impossible, and tilt up/down is limited.
All in all, I thnk I'd rather carry a beanbag with a DSLR.

The Ultrapod from REI has been recommended often, and is very inexpensive. The strap allows you to mount it to a rail or light pole.
This link should take you to Tripod Search Results at REI.

Awesome, thanks for the suggestions and links. I'll look into them.
