This thread has by far been the most entertaining of the week (and there have been several). This is definitely going to be written up in the next edition of the DPC Enquirer...

Just as a side note, dogs in public places can be a real pain in the ass. Most of the time it's not because of the dogs, but because of their stupid people.

We used to have all sorts of problems with dogs at the airport where I work. People would come into the airport to see people off or to greet people arriving. Some dogs would pee on the floor, others would leave little stink bombs lying around. Half of the time, the "owners" wouldn't even pick up after their dog. "Leave it for the cleaners". Some dogs wouldn't even be on leash! I've even had an incident where one dog got away from it's master and charged my K9. Luckily, neither dog got hurt. All of this was an enormous source of distraction for all K9's working at the airport. Believe me, you don't want an explosives detection K9 walking by a bomb and missing it to go investigate a pee puddle.

The airport put a stop to it last year. The only dogs allowed now in the airport are service dogs for the mobility, seeing, hearing impaired, etc and work K9's. All other travelling pets must be crated before they enter the terminal. It's the best thing ever. If the gallery has problems with dogs, they should have it posted on the door: no pets allowed. Same thing goes for food, liquor, etc. The worst incident I ever saw was a few years back was while I was buying groceries. An older lady was shopping for fruit and vegetables while holding her little toy poodle in her hands... YUCK!

Ken - when is the next edition of the DPC Enquirer to be expected? It's a hoot!

Love the picture. As far as pulling the camera down, I also pulled all my gallery images that the site would allow. I do appreciate many of the members here on DPC, especially the ones I often disagree with, but the small mindedness that seems to prevail on this site is something I wish not to share with.

So yes I will take my ball and go play elsewhere. Perhaps some place where beer is not considered the Devil incarnate, dogs are still mans best friend and creative freedom and liberal thought are the norm.

I wish you wouldnt. I really respect you, your principles and your work.

Next week or so. Working on removing the naked photos of myself - apparently they haven't gone over too well. ;-)

Man don't leave. I agreed with you.

And with that, the forum crashers conclude this session of crash this thread. Good job rex!

lol j/k -- I know nsbca is not going anywhere. You're too hard-headed to let a couple people who don't necessarily think drinking beer in a public place of gathering is wrong stop you from sharring your feelings. And I would like to add that I don't think there's anything wrong with throwing back a few beers.

I do believe the quote "A person becomes a conservative at that moment in their life when they suddenly realize they have something to conserve." was that of Eric Julber

I never heard of Eric Julber. The quote as I had it was much pithier, along the lines of the one I posted. I seem to remember it was a Protestant Theologian or a German Philosopher, modern era, that said it. If I weren't so lazy I'd google Julber and see if he is either :-) If he's not, I wonder which of 'em had it first?

Hey Martin,

I always thought you had thick skin and I really value your photographic opinion.....and your comments, although sometimes "charged", are really entertaining. Hope you continue to participate. You just set yourself up for this one with the beer/dog/beaver plot :)

Lighten up....let's go!

I loved this thread. But I was a newbie back then and too scared to post in it.

mrmojo apparently was gone soon after the OP left. Can't say I'd miss him with comments like the one above. Apparently you have to be refined to take good photos.

Fun thread revival, btw. I can't believe I read the whole thing.

Ummm...what's wrong the the comment by mrmojo? No insinuation pertaining to the "taking" of photos...if I remember correctly it was about the setup / display of Martins (nsbca7) prints that he was referencing.

Dang, now I'll have to reread some of this thread. I do remember it overall. Martin was a fun character and I usually mention him as one I personally miss when that kind of thread (who do you miss that's left) pops up here at DPC.

ETA a photo of Martins I always liked -->

If memory serves, the thread had some hilarious illustrations, I think by LegalBeagle. But I don't see any of his posts. Maybe they were too hot for DPC and all hidden?

I also recall this thread. I remember shaking my head and sighing a lot. =D

LegalBeagle is now Matthew and it looks like his illustrations are no longer in his portfolio. Perhaps he'll stumble upon this and repost them for our delight and pleasure.
