Greetings...
This was my submission for the people challenge. It scored a good bit higher than I expected it to and I thank everyone who voted on it. I got some nice comments throughout and after the challenge about my subject and photo. I got a few comments that I wanted to bring to the table for discussion if anyone is interested...
I don't remember exactly how many I got, but there were several comments about the way Zac's glasses cross his eyes in the photo. This is one of the elements of this photo that I particularly liked. His nose and facial features are distorted because of his 'condition'. His glasses don't rest on his face the same way most people's would, and this is one of the unique features about Zac. I didn't pose him for this photo. I just simply asked him if I could take a photo, and one shot was all I made. What you see here is "Zac".
I posted a bit of detail in my own comment when I submitted. I don't know a lot about Zac, nor do I know exactly what his condition is. I have been told that he resembles someone with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, which may indeed be the case. He doesn't fit our media-fed mold of a 'beautiful person', but I think his uniqueness is beautiful in its own way. Maybe he represents a level of reality that we aren't exposed to daily.
This photo also represents the type of images I want to find these days.
