Alright dude, you asked for them.... samples from the camera without post processing.... (other than resizing via BreezeBrowser)

I took some shots with 0 exposure compensation, some shots with -1/3 and -2/3. I think you can see that 10D tends to blow out highlights with 0 exposure compensation and the better results seem to be -1/3 and -2/3.

Taken at the Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center, what a rip off, $7!!! and the butterfly garden that i was after, only saw one freaking butterfly....

The parameter i set in the camera are:

Normal for everything except +1 for color saturation ANd it's in sRGB space, not Adobe. Most are handheld shots, some are tripod with mirror locked (the slower exposure ones are)

And frankly i don't see why people are complaining how soft the images are from the camera directly. It is a bit soft but I think if it was printed out it'll look just fine. I think most of the complaints came from users of digicams where they tend to sharpen to the death resulting in overly processed images.

My biggest gripe with 10D so far -- freaking view finder doesn't cover 100%!!! I think i need to get a script going to crop it so that it'd act like 100% coverage.

Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center 10D samples

(And yeah, the bug flying photo took me a while.... but that 70-200mm F4 L lens is just perfect.... A few of these are taken with 50 mm lens as well But boy, wouldn't it be nice to have that 100 mm macro lens?)

BTW, it's pretty obvious that the RED channel gets saturated a lot. Not sure why this is, perhaps it's just their RAW conversion algorithm.....

Some of those are really nice - you know you can join the wildflower photo team and entry is free ;) Mind you the sign-up is a bit steep - $175 for the year. So you shot all of those on high sharpness ? I really lik IMG_2478.JPG

I found these out and about, mostly shot with the same 70-200 lens and the 24-85 for the wide angles.. Looking forward to having another attempt with a 100mm macro whenever FedEx decide to deliver it.

As for saturation, I've found that the +1 saturation is always way over the top on the D60/ canon converter software. I usually use low or normal now and add a touch in Photoshop if its needed.

Uh, i think i'll pass for the $175 :)

Post samples after you get the lens, i'd be very interested to see them.

I have been trying to find the field that has the yellow flowers + bluebonnets mixed evenly :) maybve i am asking too much... but i saw a brochure once with that photo on there and can never figured out where. I went to Willow City Loop last weekend and they had a lot of bluebonnets but most of htem are just dying now.

Your CRW_0191.jpg is pretty awesome.

I found these out and about for free, mostly shot with the same lens. Looking forward to having another attempt with a 100mm macro whenever FedEx decide to deliver it.

Might head out towards Willow City tomorrow, though there are some great meadows up towards Marble Falls and Georgetown as well. I'm just struggling to find the time to get there at the right time of day. Most of the backlit/ low angle sun shots were taken at a pond near my appartment - same with the dragonfly shots - that was with the 70-200 and a 1.4x teleconverter. This dragonfly one worked out pretty well too, though I'm hoping the macro lens will be a bit sharper.
