Tack's Gonna Getcha
by bryanbrazil
Comment from slipintoshadows:
Don't feel bad man if you got a stupid comment from aerogurl... I like it!
my comment to Tranquil was: This is a great image, although I view the challenge as Plural, more than one tack.
and.... the Photographer found comment helpful.
my comment to bryanbrazil was the same: This is a great image, although I view the challenge as Plural, more than one tack.
and.... the Photographer found comment helpful.
I never once said a negative thing on either image. I am so pissed off over this. How is he allowed to say my commenting is stupid? Also, he made both these comments BEFORE I ever made mine. ughhh $%$%*(&@#

I don't see anything wrong with your comment, but I do think you're too literal taking it to mean more than one tack. Tacks imho means that it is a challenge about tacks, not a challenge about a tack. It would be really hard to pass one tack around for everyone to photograph ;-) |

yes, there was a whole thread on the Plural meaning of the challenge. That is where this stems from.

please excuse me... EDIT TITLE TO "IMMATURE COMMENTS"
although I am not a professional photographer, I conduct myself in a mature and professional way, and usually get the same from others.

Plus if the topic name was Tack we'd get people saying there was more than one etc. Hard to please everyone all the time.
Nevertheless you should probably contact the SC about it. Starting a thread could make the entire situation escalate more than it probably should be. |

I think it's better to simply ignore comments rather than bring them to the table for discussion. This sort of thing has been going on since the beginning and it will continue... |

I wrote the person a note and told him I wasn't going to report it to SC. I think he just said it out of anger. However, I did want to just say "Hey, Thats not nice! and others dont need to do this either", etc.. thats the reason I brought it to the attention of the group with a thread.
just saw your profile pic moodville, love it :)

You're not the only one that gets stupid, immature comments. For instance, buckwheat (my wife) got this one from terje on her Self-Portrait III entry...
"Did you try to get the brown ribbon? If so you may succeed! This isn't art in my eyes, it's not even worth the Kilo bytes. Poor composition, extremly overexposed, and the effect doesn't even work. and the blue color is just harsh to my eyes. Gotta move on now, if you really thought this would score well, send me an e-mail, and I'll give you some tips that I think may help. 2"
If a comment really bothers you then you should click the "Report Post" button.

thanks for all who posted. I just contacted SC and asked them to close the thread. I was actually unaware of the report post button and due to a few private messages I feel this needs to be a closed thread and handled privately. But thanks to everyone and.... be nice!

Slipintoshadows must be bitter that you viewed the challenge as plural (you left a comment indicating such on his image of a single tack). I didn't interpret it to exlude single tacks, but I see nothing wrong with your interpretation as long as you scored all the images consistantly--everyone interprets a challenge in their own way. I agree his commenting that way on other people's images is rather immature. Seems like a cheap shot to me and against the spirit of the site. I hate seeing people fighting and being mean here...we're supposed to be helping each other. |

A comment is a comment and it is only an individual assessment out of so many votes. There has always been a breakdown in presenting a verbal idea and then asking the reader to explain the meaning. For me, as long as there is no rudeness, then all comments are welcome.
One problem arises out of threads examining the definition where a group unwisely adheres to a position. These threads invite a lot comments where many express their bias and often faulty logic.
Examples: in the Blue Moon challenge a thread was entertained where a a group decided to vote down any image with a Moon. In defiance to this absurd logic I gave them a moon and a fake one at that. Take that: you bigots.
In the Accidental Letters the interpretation fell into the naive narrow opinion that only one letter was allowed. I gave them a word, because nothing said that accidentals should not be grouped together. A challenge should open your mind to the degrees of freedom available otherwise the images will bore us all. |
