I figured I was incorrect. Do I adjust it the same way? Adjust image size to your approx. dimenstions?

If you're using Photoshop CS, the recommended upsizing technique is to use BiCubic Smoother to upsize in a single step.

In the Image Size dialog, check the "resample" and "proportional" boxes, and then increase any of the parameters until the stated size gets over the desired 48MB. Check the Tutorials on resampling for more detail.

Damian, that's fantastic!
I'm working to increase the number of images we have for sale there as I know that will increase my chances for a sale....

Im positive you will get a sale soon Kavey.
It took me a while but it eventually fell in the sights of the right person.

As far as the micro and macro is concerned. I made as much from one image at Alamy as I did with around 1000 shutter stock downloads.

I hope so... I know it won't be fast as the images I have uploaded are certainly not what one might refer to as traditional stock photography - they are kind of specific and would probably only be of interest for use with travel articles on the specific destinations and/ or articles on wildlife travel or that kind of thing. They aren't even that suitable for generic travel writing illustration but for more specific articles so... I'm not too surprised.

The next lot to load will include some more generic shots (including some yummy chocolate tarts) and some Antarctic ones, which I think may do better.

Sounds like those will be better targeted towards a stock market.

Why dont you go out and shoot your home town of London? I bet its pretty popular on the stock photography list.

Mostly, it's time and laziness combined.
At the moment, I'm mostly interested in loading those images I've already taken or take on down-time (such as holidays) and seeing if I can make anything from these.
I am not yet at the stage of investing a lot of time in taking images specifically for stock though I am working towards that in the future...

I hear you, my problem is also laziness.
But sure, put your images up on Alamy, the sooner you do, the sooner one will sell.

We do have some up there already, it's a case of getting ON with adding more. I'm working on it and have set aside time this week just for this!

Now the year is closing to the end, I was wondering how everyone currently contributing to Alamy went this year?

I had my first sale on May 2005 after 6 months since geting accepted, and have had sales every month from that point, October being my best month with 4 sales.

Thanks for sharing

zero here, but i've never gotten more than the original test submissions up. that's my goal for the spring, now that the freelance thing is kind of rolling along.

congrats on the sales.

Nice job, Grant! I too made my first sales about 6 months after the first submission. Both were in August, however one of them hasn't cleared yet so I'm not at the $250 minimum to get a check. I got sidetracked so I haven't had time to submit many photos (only about 60 or so online). But I'm currently working on the next batch.

2 sales in 7 months with only 64 images up totalling $1300. Not to bad.

Brent, do you mind my asking which images those two sales were for?
12/13/2005 03:12:45 PM · #565
No sales in 6 months with about 160 images online. But they've been added slowly over the time, so most of the 160 have been up for less than the 6 months...

One thing I noticed that I did not like... I went and deleted some images from Alamy...and they are just "queued" for deletion and remain available for sale for 180 days! Now, I can understand them being available for another 30-60, maybe even 90 days. But 180!?! That's half a year! Seems kind of extreme to me...

wow that is really great Brent. congrats.
I have had 2 sales, both royalty free, so not that much $$ but have just mailed 300 more licensed images that I am hoping might make some sales in the coming year.

I've only recently started submitting to Alamy (in October of '05), no sales yet. I've sent in 3 DVDs so far, and I'm disappointed at how slowly they have been attended to. My current offering was received on 11 Nov., but has not made it past the "Received" point.

Congrats to those who have made sales. Anyone else here on the "Alamy Pro" group with Yahoo groups?

Hi everybody,
i have a question about the Lightbox(es) in the ALAMY site. What are they used for? Sorry this might be a dumb question, but i really don't know how we can use them effectively.

thanks.

I use them as a portfolio of my sales.
