I blew up a good chance of capturing the beautiful church during a recent trip to Montreal, only 'coz I didn't have tripod with me :(
Anyway, I didn't feel like just trashing them and played with few picz in PS. Here are a few tries:

Poloroid snapshot
Glass Stain effect
Neon

Just wondering what would u do to make use of blurry pictures? Any C&C and your personal PS skills are welcome. Thanks :)

Kinda like this?

(open each and switch between in the taskbar to see the difference)

I hope ya don't mind, I played around with your photo.

#1 is a try at making the scene look like it's a reflection in water. Used PS liquify, saturation, brightness.
#2 is a PS watercolour effect.
Canvas effect might be interesting to try too.

Awsome, this look so much better and almost a sharp focus. Would u kindly share the steps/levels to achieve such sharpness ?

Really like the water reflection effect. That is a pretty good use of blurry pictures indeed :) I will try it now. thanks :)

In PS, I checked and adjusted levels, then ran a utility called 10D Finisher (never use it it due to it being too extreme, but was OK here), then did a 50, 0.3, 0 USM on the lightness channel in labcolor.
I think I may have adjusted color, brightness & black level too.
At my old age, I easily forget. Hehehe

Basically I just click the crap out of stuff in PS until I'm OK with it.
:)

Gee, That's funny. That's what I do too. But you're remarkably good at it!

A quick attempt to focus your original. Let me know what you think.

You didn't blow the shot Nonage - you can't bring a tripod into Basilique Notre Dame anyways - been there, tried that. They may let you bring a monopod - I think they said I could do that, but I didn't have one. *sigh*

This is my favorite building I've ever seen.

Isn't it what we all do? I thought it was normal.
LOL

Good at it? I've heard that before... Oh wait! You were taling about PS - nah - just lucky!
Thanks.

Reminds me of this shot

Anyways, A lot of the time I try to take blurry shots now. Trying to make a virtue out of my lack of stability :)

So my advice is, go for blurry!

That's some awesome panning with the lady on the bike.

Thanks. I waste lots of shots to get the occasional keeper. Practice helps...

Hey, this look good too. I compared it with the one done by BradP. His version is bit more sharp and color adjusted. (So, the imaginary trophy goes to BradP, lolz). Did you also use some extra plugins to fix the image or was it done only what is available in PS? Plz share the wisdom & oblige. Thank you :)

Very optimistic approach indeed. Love it.
So, I guess if I start practicing it right after my silver jublee, I will become a master of blurrism by the time I celebrate my golden jublee :D
PS: Love your pictures...u r v talented indeed. Now I have a crush on ur "lack of stability"

Really? I had no idea. City tour only stopped there for 15 min & it was the first time for me to visit a church from inside. It was truly magnificant and I also lost time being in a state of awe.
Just out of curiousity, are tripods not allowed in any church or just in that particular one?

The insides of cathedrals are just so gorgeous!

They are definitely allowed in some churches and not in others - Notre Dame is such a tourist attraction I guess they don't want the rows and aisles blocked with clunky tripods - or the feet rubbing on the benches and floors.

You can if you pre-arrange it with them, as far as I could tell.

Really? Wow, that's great news! I would love to do that. I guess we'll find out next time I'm headed up. I'll definitely ask.

Thanks!
