I'm having problems resizing my color photos for the challenges. They are all small when I adjust them to the challenge size requirements. I'm using Adobe elements 2 and have no problem getting a decent size for my blacks and white photos. Thanks so so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When you make your changes in size, are you using Save for Web in Elements?

Not sure if elements is the same as Photoshop but have you read this?

Thanks! It is photoshop elements 2. I have used the tutorial, but my program does not have the convert to profile that the author uses for color adjustment.

Profile conversion is probably the least important step. Once you have your final image done, open it with your web browser instead of Elements. If it still looks OK, then just ignore any profile issues ...

Thanks for the responses. I solved the problem by decreasing the quality setting. gwendy

In photoshop save-for-web we have an arrow we can click on the right that takes us to a dialogue box that allows us to specify the filesize to which we wish the image optimized; we set that to 150kb and it gives us the least compression within that limit. Seek the same thing out in elements; look carefully, it's not obvious in PS.
