I got invited to help with this and thought I'd pass it on:
The Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center has a year long photography class/ course that starts this Thursday. More details at:
Wildflower Photo Team First meeting
Also Precision Camera/ Austin American Statesman is running a Wildflower photography contest, with a $250 prize. Pictures don't have to be taken this year, nor do they have to be taken in Texas. Entries have to arrive by the 18th of April.

One of my entries got picked to be in the last 12 for the wildflower contest :) I'm sure one of the cute kid pictures will win though...
Finalists here. Mine is 9734. Never had a picture 'published' before, I've got a copy of the paper with my photo in it :D |

Congrats! Looks like post editing is also allowed too :-) I think a friend of mine is taking the photography class too. Not sure if i can commit to that much of classes though.
I think if half of the winning photos were on DPC, it'd be rated down because of "not enough DOF" :)
