Since the abandoned building I wanted to shoot is near a nice running trail, I planned on driving to the site, going for a run, and then getting the shot. But, I knew trail parking lots are common places for car break-ins, and was afraid to leave my camera in the car while running.
After wavering several times, I finally gave up on running and just drove down to get the photo, all the while telling myself that I was being paranoid and making up an excuse not to run - I should have just hidden the camera under the seat and not worried about it.
Well, after I got the shot and came back to my car, sure enough, someone had cracked the rain shield and jimmied the door! At first all I noticed missing was a pair of sunglasses, but when I looked under the seat where I'd normally leave my camera, the jumper cables which I also store there were gone!
I think I'll go looking for insurance now. Any recommendations?

If they stole it out of your car, you home or auto insurance would have likely covered it.
When I was young, I lived in Miller Beach, Indiana. I went back after college and went to walk on the beach. I left my Pentax Spotmatic SLR camera and a suede leather jacket in the car, and walked on the beach. The car doors were locked.
When I came back, my camera, jacket, and car stereo had been heisted, and oddly, they left some dog in the car. (I presume it was just a stray or local dog, not theirs).
As I recall, our home insurance paid for the jacket and camera, and the car insurance paid for the car stereo. |

Presumably that's the dog in your pet challenge and white on white shot? Tell us it is...?
