This has been the strangest of the 4 I have done so far. I felt wierd asking another photographer to point her camera at me while I made a photo of her. I think the most peculiar thing about it was that she didn't ask me 'why' I wanted to do that... lol

Anyone else shooting anything for this? I'm going to try to finish mine this weekend and start on something new in the forums next week...

i 'kinda' got my ice cream shot, but it doesn't fit with the others, so i'm probably going to reshoot. i was going to shoot my referee next tuesday, but it looks like if you're closing in, i should go on and get it done ;-)

I'm very slow, but I want to finish even if it takes me all year, just for fun.

well, i'll have to say that this 'challenge' has been one of the coolest things i've done since, well, i guess since the dc g2g ;-) maybe i should say, this is one of the coolest challenges i've ever taken up.

anyways, i decided to see if i could do it today. i came close, getting 13 out of 15. hard to find a referee working in the middle of the day, and it was too cold to find anyone eating ice cream. all the same, this was an excellent adventure, on a number of levels.

for one, i wanted to get a feel for the mechanics of approaching i people don't know to take their picture while also getting a model release. another thing i wanted to find out was just how much of this could i do in a day. i ended up with about 90 shots, editted almost 30, and have uploaded about 15, so far. not bad for a days work.

i took a very straight forward approach. if i went into a place of business, i tracked down a manager to let them know what i wanted to do, and to make sure they were ok. i told them that i was participating in an on-line photo safari, and that i had to take pictures of 15 different people. i had printed out the list, using a very large font, and i showed it to them. i also did this with the subjects i wanted to shoot. when i had their permission, i explained that i would need to take at least two pictures, one with them holding up the model release, and one of them doing whatever. i also had printed up and cut out some business card sized slips of paper with my dpc url and instructions for finding the images, as well as my regular web address. once they signed the model release, i gave them the slip of paper, telling them how to see their pictures. everybody seemed to like this idea.

and, to make it even better, when i was in a restaurant, some patrons asked if they could pay me to take their picture. so i took it, and will be taking them prints tomorrow.

at this point, i'll say, "Thanks, John, for giving me a vehicle/reason to go out and do something different today!"

now, on to the pictures...

I just found this too and it's been a pleasure.

Skip, frigging AMAZING results and I LOVE the fun of your release and your approach. MUCH KUDOS!
